They are trying to blame the broker for not telling them they needed to inform the insurance company of new signings. Suggest they read the small print of their policies. |
Think it’s something to do with being automatically covered or not in this case, hope it costs Tan a fortune to sort out. Even the pointless choo and useless Dalman told Tan the signing wasn’t a good idea, Warnock, being Warnock went over them direct to the freak, who okayed the transfer.

If you change your car or buy a new one you have to tell the insurance company before you drive it. The same with household insurance policies if make changes to your house you have to tell them first.

And if you crash your car whilst uninsured then the next day take out a new policy and try to claim on it you’ve got absolutely no chance.

In many ways a multi car policy is like a club blanket player policy. You get another car you tell your insurance when you buy it, you buy another player you tell your insurance to add to the policy. Not the following day, particularly after an accident on both counts.

What is really silly here is their claim they did not realise they had to inform the insurance company about the new signing and that they thought he was automatically covered. How can they try that on? They have owned CCFC fr a few years now and they have had lawyers and other football people there who will know that's not how it works. It's total BS on their part and may only cause them even more trouble, I think Tan has lost it completely. I reckon his lawyers probably advised against this because it's barmy.
| Cardiff on 19:51 - Jan 19 with 1531 views | Joesus_Of_Narbereth | Didn’t they claim in various courts for about three years that he wasn’t even their player? If they honestly believed this then why would they expect to get insurance money? Add perjury to the list. | |

I have no idea how it works but aren't players valued differently , certainly in the transfer market so a blanket policy wouldn't make sense for either party , undervalue or overvalue a player and someone loses out if there was a claim

If you read the club statement, the club are indeed litigating against the insurance broker, who they believe had previously led them to believe 'all players' were insured once signed Now that last bit has been legally confirmed, let's see what occurs next, as the insurer (or their agent) will be investigated to see if the 'all players' comment was correct or not and/or they only brought it to light after a potential claim might be made? Who knows eh?

Cardiff previously testified in court that they didn’t believe the transfer was completed at the time of salas death. Now they are claiming the insurer didn’t tell them to insure a player that they didn’t think was theirs. You see how ridiculous this looks?

It’s the exact point I made to Resolven a while back. You can’t insure another clubs player. They told everyone he wasn’t their player. Why would an insurance company inform them they had to insure a player that they insist belongs to another club? I said their arguments are so ludicrous they will end up crossing over and biting them. This is what you are seeing now.

| Cardiff on 10:44 - Jan 20 with 1238 views | whiterock | Cardiff City tried to take out £20m insurance on Emiliano Sala the day after he was killed in a plane crash, say papers filed to the High Court. Sala's plane crashed into the English Channel on 21 January 2019, killing the striker and pilot David Ibbotson. A company of insurance brokers said the club failed to get cover before Sala's plane went down in January 2019. Cardiff City bosses are seeking damages of more than £10m from insurance brokers following the death. But the club have been unable to claim back the money paid for Sala after insurers refused to pay out. Cardiff City FC is suing insurance broker Miller Insurance LLP claiming it owes more than £10m in a High Court bid. The club says the firm failed to say players would not be covered if they were not "timely informed" of new signings such as their new star striker. The plane disappeared from radar near Guernsey on its way to Cardiff from Nantes But lawyers representing the brokers say it was not up to them to "chase" club bosses over making sure new signings were insured and that the club were "fully aware" Sala was not insured. Alistair Schaff KC told the High Court that Cardiff City contacted insurers regarding Sala on 22 January 2019, the morning after his flight went missing off the coast of Alderney. Mr Schaff said the club made contact via email seeking £20m coverage for Sala. Cardiff City claim Miller Insurance failed to properly explain the concept of an "insurable interest" for football player transfers and the requirement of a "prompt" notification of the transfer in order to secure coverage. It said the broker also did not let the club know about the risks of "delaying this notification of an interest or the steps that might be taken to reduce or eliminate the risks". | | | |

But…the idiots running the club just assumed another player, if signed, automatically gets added to the insurance policy. Probably a bit like cars in a garage. My mate runs a business that works like this…new car, on the policy…up to 20 cars I believe. I’m sure football and people are different though. I dint get paid a million a year to run ccfc though.

The again failed in their 'Duty of care'. All the parties were looking the other way and not checking anything expecting someone else to do the boring stuff. "Gaffer I've got some forms to check and a spreadsheet to go through with you" . " Sorry Mate , I got to pick my Ferrari at Evans Halshaw this morning and got an interview with Talksport at one. Maybe Wednesday"

Seeing this from Cardiff just reinforces how well our owners are doing, say what you like but they are doing a fantastic job, its even got to the point where we are not even selling our top players for a pittance, something that would never happen in times past, i just hope they give Martin a few impact players before the window closes, we all know Swansea leave it late

Martin has Whitaker back. He has made big stride this season and worth big cash. A hungry goal scoring and creating 6ft fast skillful 22 year old. If the Ownership group are genuine in their philosophy this guy will be developed not sold on the cheap like in the bad old days to save tight cash flow issues.

| Cardiff on 14:41 - Jan 21 with 846 views | KeithHaynes | Staying with the OP. Spoke to a very well informed bloke this morning over coffee, lovely day by the way. Conversation turned to Sala. He asked the question, I thought Cardiff said he wasn’t their player, wasn’t that the thrust of their claim initially ? As we know it was. He then said, so why would they pursue the players insurance the day after he died if he isn’t their player. I think that sums it up. | |
