They are 22nd with 29pts and we are 13th and on 39pts, perhaps that's why Martin hasn't been sacked, nor do I think he would get sacked even if we were in 22nd place as the owners won't want to pay severance pay as they are tightwads.

Tight wads who shelled out good money for Darling and Fisher and also funded a loan for Sorinola for them to get splinters

Money they made from selling downes, how much did they spend last month? And you must really hate Martin if you defending the owners over him. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Just answering pencs post WR. Before the January window I was confident we could actually climb into the top 6 but after that catastrophic window I will be glad to stay mid table.

perspective is needed Do you think the money from the sale of Downes went into an account for transfers? The cash was needed to keep the club afloat .....I would estimate out income from gate receipts per season is possibly less than the 10 million they received form the sale of Downes,,,,,our outgoings far exceed that of out income form ticket sales, we dont get the same TV money now we are in the Championship.....like all of us the club will have been exposed to increased costs ...you will be excused but since the rise in energy costs not all the floodlights are used...thats just one example...cash is tight so why throw more money away on players the manager may decide to ignore...or bench like he has with Darling who was not cheap and personally I do not believe will become a saleable asset I dont hate Martin I dont rate him as a manager.....Im not defending the owners I have my concnerns about them and have posted such on here over the years BUT it will be easier to replace the manager than the owners.. Tell me what should we as fans do to "sort" the owners out? Run them out of town? Where does that leave us? Sometimes there comes a time in business where you stop putting in cash as you are not seeing the benefit or the cost of investment is higher than the return you perceive you will receive maybe thats where the owners were....that said I am totally annoyed at the sellouts they put personal profit before the club they stated they loved and as a result we are where we are I will ask again as I have several times on here since Saturday so how do we deal with the owners? I wish we had local people. fans as owners as we once did but we dont...so go on what do we do about replacing these owners.....as I said earlier last time we fell form the top table we plumeted down the leagues and into fincancial ruin five seasons on we are still in with a shout of possibly reaching the top table and do not appear to be in any fiscal difficulty

The manager has no record of ever achieving anything better than a midtable finish....its now so easy to blame the lack of transfer activity for failure The owners "backed" him in bringing in Fisher and Darling the latter nor being cheap from hearsay and they also funded Sorinola,s loan.....if it werte not for Benda's injury all 3 would be warming the bench.....Martin's choice of players has done little ot make us better like his first target when he cam here one Patterson....leys not throw all the blame on the owners

Why not. They employed the last 3 managers in the championship the previous 2 who complained about them. Plus the ones in the Premier League who ultimately took us down. So who else is ultimately at fault.

Please point me to any quotes form Potter and Cooper where they have publicly complained about the ownership The last two managers achieved something Potter took us to withihn minutes of a FA cup semi final, Cooper in his first season to the playoff semis ansd then to 90mins of the PL in his second....what has Russ achieved? Spend in what capacity? Money made in the transfer market isn’t spare cash, it’s to service debt elsewhere, like player wages and running costs. What we bring in as a club is not enough to cover the running costs without a player selling model. That’s just the way it is at Swansea and was the same under the last set of owners. Pretending it’s a new things is just silly.

There isn’t any. Just like there isn’t any regarding them not knowing about relegation and all the other rubbish fabricated in this last week. - Potter finished in the top 10 after being given over €7m to spend. - Cooper finished top 6 back to back after being given €2.5m to spend. - Russell has finished bottom half (and likely to do so again) after the owners spent €8.2m in the last 18 months. That’s nearly a €20m spend on players since coming down. Those currently in our league (not including those in the Premier League during the last 4 seasons) that have spent more are: Middlesbrough Bristol City That’s it. [Post edited 8 Feb 2023 23:28]

"Parachute payments to relegated clubs are based on the Premier League's broadcasting revenue, specifically the slice that is equally shared among the clubs. As a result the overall value of the payments have varied over time, increasing with the gradual rise of TV money flooding into the top of the English game. In the first year, the payment is 55 per cent of the amount that each Premier League club receives as part of its equal share of broadcast revenue. Based on the most recent figures, that percentage is roughly £40m. The percentage is reduced to 45% in the second year (roughly £35m) and 20% in the third year (roughly £15m)." That would indicate we have received roughly £90 million plus any income from gate receipts, television money, cup ties, merchandise etc. Obviously like all clubs, income was hit at various times by Covid. So out of £90 million, we have spent £20 million of the money received on transfers. Plus of course several million per year on salaries. Still seems to be a lot left over from those figures, wouldn't you agree ?

No, again you are making the assumption that anything we receive is spare money. It’s uneducated nonsense. Parachute payments don’t exist as a nice present for those who are relegated, they are to cover legacy overheads that can no longer be covered by Premier League income. We have spent €18.5m since relegation, this is largely because they invested €18m of their own money to be able to do so. The rest of what we receive (including player sales) goes on the running of the club, including players salaries, historical debt, player amortisation and whatever other costs you can list that goes into the running of a professional football club. All this has been done to death with account and financial experts explaining them in great detail. The accounts are also available for you to read at companies house, feel free to tell us all where this money you see is. The year we got the playoffs (with parachutes still coming) we made an overall loss of £4.6m. A pretty good figure in comparison to the rest of the league, but of course puts to bed “but they can spend even more” angle. Educate yourself by reading this thread and come back to me with any concerns. Your concern at the moment appears to be that they won’t jeopardise the clubs health in return for your enhanced entertainment. Thank God they don’t. [Post edited 9 Feb 2023 0:23]
