SWANSEA CITY SIGN GOALKEEPER ANDREAS SONDERGAARD on 14:50 - Feb 18 by Dr_Parnassus
No, but he’s probably on 20k a week, quite easily.
That’s a 500k package for a 6 month deal. A ridiculous amount that I would be really annoyed about if it turned out we had made such a signing.
Well we all know what happens when you pay peanuts . We all know Fisher is nowhere near good enough. Look at our record this season with him in goal compared to with Benda. Before Blackpool... Benda P21 W10 D5 L6 35 of our 39 points Fisher 4pts from 10 games ..
Benda is still a work in progress, Fisher is a liability

Cheap skates as should have dealt with it in the last week in the window and signed a decent keeper. They knew Fisher wasn't the answer yet still sat on their wallets.
I doubt if this new lad is on more than a grand a week.
A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

Excellent point and good use of stats. Nothing to argue with there. If we had bitten the bullet and paid out good money for a quality keeper, we may well have found ourselves in the top 6 by now

As much as I don't rate Fisher. I don't think he is responsible for most of the points dropped since he returned to the side. Our overall inept defending and coaching is responsible for most of that. Making the top 6 is a tad over expectant IMO.

Unfortunately we did pay out decent money and got Fisher! This may have something to do with the fact the yanks won't give RM any more money, they don't trust him with it . Which comes back to 'back him or sack him' . However to sack him will cost money!!

Exactly. Trouble is regardless of what happened in previous years, this year they ( the owners) have neither backed him or sacked him. It reeks of a total indifference as to where the club ends up

Which goals do you think were Fishers fault then?
He’s been keeping the score down since he’s been called upon.
This latest twist of pretending the goalkeeper situation is the reason for our form is hilarious.

You think it’s a good use of stats to use team performance to judge a single player?

They have spent millions this season and given him all the time he’s asked for.

That’s excellent.
He doesn’t automatically get better if they pay him more. That’s exactly what we want to pay a keeper that will probably never need to be called upon.
Would have been ludicrous to spend a lot on such a position when we already have Fisher and Benda on our books.
Fisher was brought in for 500k and put on 5 figures a week, Benda will be back next season. I don’t see any viable keeper that would be better than them worth spending the money needed for them.

I think the signing of this lad is a perfect scenario, he will hardly have the chance to play unless there is an injury or suspension.
You watch him get a game and be decent.......that being the case, I would hope that the club put an extra 12 month option in there in their control only.

Any owners who cared about the plight of the club would accept Fisher isn't good enough and was a mistake and replace him. The fact they didn't says it all. Tight wads

The owners don’t pick the team. Fisher is Russell’s man.
Which goals have been his fault since he’s come in then?
I’ll get the videos up and take a look.

And Russell is the owner's man. On the weekend Benda was injured, Martin went on record as saying they would need to access Benda's injury and if he was out for a long period of time, have to look for another keeper in the time remaining in the window. I will not pretend to know who Martin and his staff had in mind, but I am sure it wasn't an inexperienced keeper like Sondergaard I am talking about Fisher's form since coming to the club. He was universally criticized prior to being replaced by Benda. Even when he came on at QPR he almost immediately gave a goal away with one of his sloppy passes. Do you really believe he is good enough to be in our side ? Better than Woodman and Hamer, or Benda ? We could have had either of the previous two as our number one

Yep, another keeper because that only leaves Webb as a backup to Fisher who was on loan to Aberystwyth at the time (or just returned).
At no point did Martin suggest we needed another first team keeper.
That’s why we have got in Sondergaard. Who were you expecting exactly?
If Fisher hasn’t been at fault for a single goal since being called back into the first team then you don’t really have anything to moan about. He’s pulled of some excellent saves and kept the score down in all of them.

Suggest you look at QPR highlights 2 mins in approx. His usual nonsense almost gifted them a second goal. Also look at McBurnies;s goal ? He dashes out, brings one of our players down and leaves the net unguarded He will make many more blunders before the season ends

Didn’t you make up that he nearly gave two goals away in the last game?
Do you see them in these highlights? I didn’t see them in real time either.
Although I’m glad you are admitting he hasn’t been at fault for any goals since being called upon since the injury to Benda, and can only point to a misplaced pass 4 weeks ago that all keepers make when forced to play such a ludicrous style.
Anyone would think you have some kind of irrational vendetta against the man keeping the score down for us.

In the last game ? Blackpool ? Not me. Fisher did well against Blackpool and Birmingham. The errors I pointed out were at QPR and Sheff Utd

I have plenty of Hereford supporting friends, they don’t speak too fondly of him. He is young though so may improve.
