News reached us on Sunday afternoon that plans for the closed season that were agreed in February seem now to have been ‘adjusted’ leaving Martin extremely annoyed. 2 Jason Levien is scuppering any hopes of a good summer, click above.

For someone to not understand Levien’s comments regarding moving the deadline is ridiculous. He meant imposing our own deadline on clubs so they don’t leave it to the last second to decide on deals. It means if we impose our own deadline of 25th of Jan for example for clubs/players to make their minds up then it gives us time to pivot should they not come to fruition. He didn’t literally mean moving the transfer deadline football wide as being suggested. He’s either an incredibly stupid man or an agitator, both worthy of not having access to falsely report and misrepresent quotes and news to create disharmony at the club.

because we ended up playing against 10 men and once we were 3 up we played keep ball there is sometimes a time and place to do so problem is many has been the time we have done the same at nil nil

beating Cardiff of late Here we go, yeah, we beat a team reduced to 10 men, we beat a team in a relegation place, their key players weren't available, select 1 or all if you like, these are a few reasons, according to some of our SUPPORTERS why we've beaten certain teams, to achieve not only the doube that has NEVER been done before, but to the go on and do the duobe duobe, is, you better sit down vetchy, a great achievement to Swans supporters, it gives us the bragging rights for God knows how long if ever.

yes the double doube is great but would you swap that for promotion...Russy has used that to blind us.... he milks it walking out to our fans before kick off he doesnt do that to fans who travel up to Sunderland yet will do so to those who travel 40 miles up the road yes I live beating them up the road...but that is not the.oumit of.my ambition

| 🔴 It’s coming right on the pitch - but what the hell is going on off it ? on 20:03 - Apr 24 by vetchonian | Martin is a young manager has been a football league manager the same time as our previous manager Cooper who unlike Martin never played at pro level Cooper who entered football league management at the same time as Martin in his first season took his team to the championship playoff semifinals Martin took his side to 19th in lg1 in their second seasons Martin took his side to 13th in lg1 whilst Cooper led his side to the Champuoship play off final losing in their theirs seasons as managers Cooper took a side from bottom of the champuoship to win the play off final and promotion to the premier league whilst Martin took a team that the season before had finished 4th in the championship to 15th in their 4the seasons Cooper has managed in the PL but looks like his side will be relegated whilst Martin again will achieve zilch 4 seasons in and he still cant learn |
I've been critical of Martin & would have got rid of him a while ago but not before time it does appear that he's learning - thoroughly enjoyable trip to Norwich on the weekend. Your constant references to Cooper are tiresome but as you have brought him up would you accept that lack of backing from the owners were the major factor in him leaving?

19 points from 21 some lovely football 7 goals in 2 games against sides chasing play off spots. And still the sniping goes on truly pathetic. The bottom line is some would rather Russ fail than have to admit it's starting to click [Post edited 24 Apr 2023 21:01]

but it's starting to click as he has changed things like playing a flat back 4 rather than 3 at the back yet his supporters claim patience is paying off despite the fact Martin has ripped up plan a I.will give him.credit for recognising the necessary change but annoyed it took him so long

Like any other Swans supporter, I'd take promotion over the doube, or, doube doube any day of the week, but the fact is it's an achievement, and the way we won our last Derby will live with me forever, I was like a demented frog when we Ben slotted the ball home, as apposed to Basil Faulty with his head in his hands when we bent over for Brentford.

It was always going to click if he changed it, was never in doubt. Our players are fantastic for this level. But the discussions at the moment are the same ones that happen every time we win. People pretend that nothing has changed and it’s their “patience paying off” as opposed to facing the fact that the old Martinball is thrown out when we go on these runs. The data is crystal clear on that. Everyone is happy that we are winning, but of course the closer we get to the playoffs at this late stage of the season, the more frustrating it is because it’s more and more obvious we should be in them and probably won’t be. We need solid consistent form from Russell to put the demons of the past to rest, and there are plenty. I think Xmas next season is a good marker in the sand to prove his commitment to this new way of playing, because as it stands I’m not fully convinced he continues to play these tactics, they have always been short lived in the past.

It gets tedious. I can only see a few, as I have Parsnip on ignore, but some will bore the branches off the trees.

Depends in what context. I happen to think we should have made play offs this season, and possibly even last season. That suggests the patience shown has hindered us. The fact we may do it next season means we will get to where we should have been but much later, so that’s not really a net benefit. Patience with the style that he brought would be a falsehood as it’s not the same style, that was the initial iteration of “patience”. Patience with the manager himself could be argued, but again it’s only getting us to where we should have been far sooner. Give Bob Bradley enough time and I’m sure he would have worked though his clear incompetences, but during the waiting period a better manager will have garnered success and not let the club decline. So it’s not really a case of patience paying off as much as patience showing that if you waste enough time, then eventually things may get a bit better. I’d say that’s the same for most things in life.

He is, maybe, I hope. Important to note however, we aren’t a management school. Our goal is as much success as possible and as soon as possible (expediency is linked to progress), not Russ passing his management exams. Although one of his major ones is still very much there, that’s his ability to bring negativity to the club completely needlessly in an attempt to put future blame at arms length. Him potentially (yet to be seen) bringing some success 3 years after he should have is still something we have to avoid at all costs in future management decisions. But until Xmas next season I won’t be confident he has worked through anything, after the past 2 years I need some serious convincing.

Totally agree about us being Martin’s training programme and I’ve said that before. However, sometimes you have to take a chance with young, so-called progressive managers just like we did with others such as Martin, Monk etc. We are not a club that employs the Redknapps, Mowbrays, Colins etc. of this world. The trick is to know when to cut that tie and this is a huge problem with Martin because he shows he can do it but displays a character that he believes is a strength but in fact is a weakness i.e. his stubbornness. I’m with you on timescales. If he can take us forward by Christmas without experimenting needlessly or reverting to tried and failed formations then maybe I’ll trust him but to date there r been too many troughs in his timeline to forget easily.

| It’s coming right on the pitch - but what the hell is going on off it ? on 12:31 - Apr 25 with 399 views | EagleEye | Not sure that the club is ‘clearly on the cusp of something very exciting indeed’ as stated in the original article. There are probably too many variables at play for it all to work or line up successfully Yes we have the unprofessional approach from those holding the purse strings We have a recruitment team whose links & contacts seem to spread about as far as Huddersfield Town ex players & links We have RM who has split the supporters due to his stubbornness & lack of acceptance of what formation works best We have the foundation of a decent side that could definitely compete next season if it is kept together. However our best (most creative) players are likely to leave, be sold or try to run their contracts down Just like every other side in the division we are 3-4 players short of being an automatic promotion contender on what we already have These things don’t line up very often, only Toshack & Rodgers have managed it in the clubs 110 year existence. It’s the lack of ambition that hurts the most | | | |
