I’m also a bit perplexed as the thread title is ‘This is Swansea City’s manager for next season’
And then the footage was added.

The thread indicates no endorsement of him nor anything slating him, just a fact in point that this is the Swans manager for next season. It’s weird at times on here.

No some supporters are not happy ‘with Swansea City’s manager for next season’

Are we only allowed to post positive things about our inept manager otherwise be classed as negative?

I’ve been beaten to it, but the thread has nothing to do with anyone being ‘happy with Swansea City’s manager for next season’

OK I've changed it.

He is what he is.

I wouldn’t be that bothered if he was replaced, I’m ugky eniugh to take it on the chin. I would be concerned about by who and why though ( he’s not going to get sacked btw ) but the ‘question’ was of this silly reference of worshipping other humans. I answered that by clearly stating what I think of his personal strategy at this time. If we are going to refer to the poor performances that you mention , a different topic, then we have to refer to the good performances of late.

I’m a bit of a realist, I see the issues with Martin, but I also see improvement, and of course major areas for development. Especially for a thirty seven year old manager. I don’t let them ruin my enjoyment of being a Swansea City fan, those days have long gone for me. I also see the positives of what he has done in recent times. What’s perceived is good and bad, ? They go hand in hand.

As you pointed out previously we have reported numerous articles on his short comings, and if that is going to be the case we have to look to the better side of his management as well. I learned a long while ago to remain as non judgemental as possible even when the circumstances were horrific, it’s what ensured I could at least apply that to the less important matters like Russell Martin, the clubs owners or the team I support.

If you ( not you but in general ) ask yourself the question ‘what actually was good about that ‘ and apply that to even the worst case of football scenarios, or when it’s good ask yourself ‘why’ and how can it be better you become less concerned about your opinion and more open to ( I think ) a bigger picture. And more respectful as well.

It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but it works for me,

Thanks for the life coaching tips but I’ve surrounded myself with good people & have enough life experiences to know about being respectful & bettering myself.

Let me know if you only want positive posts on your forum & I won’t comment on Martin.

It isn’t life coaching, and your reaction is as expected. I’m referring to me, you asked the question of me, so I took the time out to explain it. It can be challenging I know. It’s got nothing to do with surrounding yourself with people good or bad, or indeed saying ‘ I’ve done that bit of learning I don’t need to do it anymore’ it’s about how you ( as I said not aimed at you but in general ) can understand a situation better.

If everyone said ‘ oh I’ve done that ‘ nobody would learn anything about themselves or indeed others.

Which is exactly why you responded as you did, and indeed why a few Swansea players reacted to Russell Martin’s developmental coaching. You immediately attacked the messenger. Obafemi is the example. He couldn’t understand what affective learning is. And that’s why he became difficult.

If you don’t want my opinion, don’t ask the question.

It’s nothing personal, and nothing to do with positives or negatives. And as I stated it wasn’t aimed at you. And I didn’t say anything about being respectful or the fact you should better yourself. They were the words you chose as a response. And that’s for you to deal with now we have come to this point.

And of course I mentioned nothing about positive or negative posting that again was your perception, I just mentioned how I evaluate situations. At no point have I said anything that would be considered in any way against your opinions on any matter.

On your posting reference, I see you as a well respected poster. So don’t understand why you would end your post with a question as you did.

Thanks for your continued support of the website of course 👍

Why would anyone want to start all this process again ?
Is it because they thrive on negativity ?

Not everything has to be a long drawn out process.

This process stuff only existed at our club since Russ came as an excuse for his incredibly bad start, that developed and became folklore, to the point that 2 years later we are still apparently in this process.

No manager that got us to where we were on our recent incredibly journey needed whole seasons written off for “process” purposes.

A correct system will make a talented squad work in a very short space of time.

No RM haters but just those who cannot understand the adulation given to a manager who has achieved nothing of note in his time as a manager. ( Hard hat donned ready for the onslaught re double doube)

There is a tread posted about our clubs achievement 42 years ago today under a manger with only 3 seasons under his belt yet managed us to 3 promotions.....
Could you imagine Tosh giving a post match talk like that....

Dont forget this season we almost flirted with relegation and had he not switched form his plan and gone with 4 at the back we could be looking at a relegation fight

So, big respect to Russell Martin if what you say is right and he changed his methods ?
I see no adulation on here, I think that’s an even more questionable use of the word than ‘Worshipping’

I will ask what Keith has asked, what adulation?

And i replied to your swipe on the 42 years ago topic by saying tosh was backed by the board in signing class experienced professionals.

I am in no way a RM worshipper, in fact I wanted him gone a few months ago, I will praise when praise is deserved and also chastise when that is also deserved.

I have been the same and will be the same with every manager we have had or will have.

It's the usual RM haters who all in a tizz because we are doing well and he isnt going anywhere.

Why do you keep repeating this?

No genuine Swansea fan wants the side to lose, I also know Martin will be in charge next season (which is continually repeated).

Does that mean I should be a Russy fan boy, not at all.

No need for a tin hat it seems you have company.

Are we doing well though?

We have just failed to make playoffs twice in a row, in a season where we didn’t beat anyone in the top 6 currently.

We had a decent run at the end of the season against largely bottom half clubs. But I wouldn’t say we are “doing well”.

This post match talk that seems to have garnered a lot of online love on socials is our manager praising the group for the season that was essentially wasted, after a game which we needed to win to stay in touch with playoffs.

Maybe I am harder to please than most. I simply want a manager that can achieve a League position befitting of the standard of squad.

I wouldn’t swap squads with anyone outside the top 4.

That’s a different question to this odd ‘adulation or worshipping’ thing which I’m finding a bit weird tbh.

Are we doing well ?

Based on the last two months yes.
Based on last season, there’s positional improvement only.

I see the post match chat ( that’s all it is ) a chat, a little uncomfortable. I see a very exposed Russell Martin, he seems uncertain and quite emotional, but not good emotional. I don’t think this last half of the season has done him any good at all mentally.

I checked back on our reports on matches when he wasn’t performing, we were harsh where it needed to be and rightly so. I’m surprised he is still the clubs manager, but if he is or not matters not to me personally, as I said it’s why he would be sacked and who would come in that would concern me.

For me, he has under performed this season as a manager, but saved himself with the recent run of results. The thing that saves him, and this is for me, is his accepting of responsibility for ‘ losing focus’ and the fact he has examined that and learned from it. We will only know come next season.

Maybe our position is as a result of beating those below us, and is realistic based on the fact we haven’t beaten any of the current top six ? What he does when next season starts is now completely different to last season, Last time around if he lost the first six he would still be the manager, next time he will be toast. I accept that, but then I enjoy following the team I have supported all my life with all its turbulence. If we get success then brilliant, if we don’t then at least it’s been an emotional experience.

I agree I wouldn’t swap this squad for anyone outside the top four, in fact I would go outside of the top two. Which maybe indicates Russell Martin needs to up his game considerably to retain his job next season.

I get the strange feeling that this man believes in the style and the process more than he does his own personal influence.

Another manager might have had Swansea "fully up for it" and "chomping at the bit". Instead there was satisfaction at a routine, middle of the road, competent performance. The highlight of the day was that lovely shirt presentation not the three points.

It is them modern ethos of 'caring' 'so' much. It is ITV at 7pm on Saturday. Britain has certainly got talent.

Martin believe the style and process takes care of itself and he can sit back and watch the success unfold in front of his eyes. It does not work at any level. When the club is trading at a monthly £1m loss there is no development time left. Now it is results.

An alternative is to release expensive players and promote Rushesha, Azzeem, Brandon Cooper and Joseph. They are old enough and need to be ready

Agree entirely.

Although the adulation for me is clear in the responses to his failures and successes, also the reaction to the very clear change in approach.

Anyone pretending it was all part of the plan, despite the fact we now have no real natural wide players (Manning aside) is kidding themselves or doing so to cause conflict as opposed to conceding that others were correct as opposed to being “negative” as has been the accusation in the past.

People will fall over themselves to praise him when we win, but will much prefer to blame the owners or the players when we don’t.

I’m still looking for examples.

Personally I admire his desire to get to a position that his football philosophy can be proven with players at a lower level. However, we all surely know that if he was replaced another relatively unknown would come in, someone who won’t rock the boat and be submissive.

I’m pretty certain those that want Martin to leave for whatever reason don’t think about what comes next. They will just shout for that persons head when it suits them.

You will be waiting a long time Keith.

And then when the shoe is on the other foot or coin flipped then the contradictions come flying out.
