Extension of an existing deal suggests no rise. It is a negotiating position for clubs to encourage players not to run down their deals. Wood for example is paid less for next season but can sign a three year deal if he wants to.
I expect Cullen to sign a brand new deal to supercede this deal if he can agree a deal. Wood is in the same place. |  |

What we paid for and are paying Yates is irrelevant to whether or not Cullen is worth keeping around.
Cullen has been indulged and been given every opportunity to improve under consecutive managers and not really done so. He's not a kid any more. If this is the future then it's probably not going to be much better than the present. | |

I think it's said more about the way our season has gone. The end game of having most pace and creativity systematically stripped out over three or four years. We didn't have any kind of service from the flanks until January, and even that has been hot and cold.
I've said before that Yates' biggest problem is that the manager who signed him and got some decent early displays out of him didn't last long and his replacement is clearly not all that fussed. If Williams stays, which seems certain, then Yates has no future here.
Cullen is clearly in Williams's good books but it's not making all that much difference with him. Lots of effort, not much quality. Much like Oli Cooper, he's basically getting by on being "one of our own" at present. | |

The main difference between Cullen and Yates for me is that Cullen doesn’t play like he’s given up.
I rated Yates earlier in the season, even when it wasn’t going well for him he was tenacious, chased everything and didn’t shy away from physical battles with bigger, stronger players. He’s lost that.
I really wanted to see how he got on with a less agricultural style after Duff left. Unfortunately, it hasn’t worked under Williams either.
Similar attributes and Williams will want to bring strikers in. Can’t see the need to keep both of them if I’m honest and Cullen is probably easier to move on. | | | |

Watson said that is what they will try to do. Where Swansea can improve is the quality of the loans I hope there will be one or two and the club find a good solid goalkeeper.
Govea, Parker, Abdullai, Cotterill and Wilson are quality and like 5 new signings. Ginnelly coming back. A centre forward of power and a goalkeeper are priorities. | |
