Swans : Urgent preparation required as another picture shows a penalty yesterday 7th Dec 2025 18:54 Vitor Matos has his first win as head coach of Swansea City and immediately walks into another home game this Tuesday against Portsmouth. Beating Oxford United 2-0 yesterday in another relegation battle was a huge boost for the Swans.0
Swans latest : Pompey come in search of points TEAM NEWS 9th Dec 2025 08:00 It’s match day already and tonight Swansea City take on Portsmouth at home in the Championship. (7:45pm) It’s the follow up to that crucial fixture won on Saturday (2-0) against Oxford United, and this is a real six pointer.0
Cullen strike as Matos celebrates his first double ! 9th Dec 2025 22:58 Vitor Matos grabbed his second win on the bang as the Swans beat Portsmouth in what can only be described as a mediocre game by recent Swansea standards. Mediocre it may well have been but these are the games to win, and this was one hell of a six pointer. In this crazy league that puts the Swans eight points off the play offs and six from the last relegation spot.2

All about getting points now after months of dross Vitor seems to be real prospect I think he will go far He’s made changes and is learning every game We haven’t been doing that
As I’ve stated , Stamenic will be a key player
Morning Eddie , look after yourself
I always do.
Its strange that you didnt post much last night, it really gets to you when we win.

i said it the other day, i would try him running at the defence through the middle, CD defenders dont like forwards running at them, just look at Eoms run in the 2nd half .

Yeah we get it - you don’t like Vipotnik. I believe Matos will finally get into the players heads and provide him with the ammunition he needs - balls to run onto on the floor between either full back and Centre halves. Then he’ll do what he does best - blast the ball past the keeper with either foot. Different players have different methods but if you are implying that Cullen is a better player than either Vipotnik or Idah youre just being overly sentimental. If we could get decent money for him I’d sell.
Vipotnik has grown on me massively this season.
Cullen isn’t a better striker than either of them, but he’s better than both, or probably anyone else in our squad, at making runs and picking up dangerous positions unmarked. It’s why he gets more chances. Vipotnik is much better with the chances he gets, but doesn’t get as many.
I think you’re right about Matos finding ways to get Vipotnik more chances. I also think Cullen will be a part of that.
Think about it. A run from midfield that draws a defender makes a striker easier to pick out a d creates more time and space for him to get a shot away. That makes sense surely?

Cullen is an enigma. He gets plenty of stick especially around his goalscoring or involvement within a game. And then right when many have had enough he crops up with a goal. Story of his Swans career.
A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

He keeps getting picked though. Managers see things fans don’t.
He’ll be involved in his fair share of games for us this season and I’d imagine Bellamy will bring him on against Bosnia if we are chasing the game.
If we’re winning or settling for a point on 60/70 minutes, the same would apply to Fulton, who most fans also don’t rate.

Maybe its just me but I cant recall anyone mentioning how high a press we had in the first half , someone posted running around like headless chickens but that headless chicken routine certainly kept Portsmouth hemmed into teir own half and forced quite a few errors Considering we played a tough match on Saturday and Portsmouth didn't then I thought our work rate was at times exceptional .

"Liam, as with a lot of players, has this weapon of outside-of-the-box shooting - we need to keep using that and Liam's was a wonderful goal, I'm really happy for him," said Matos"
"He has that quality, he has that potential. He needs to find this joy again and I think today I'm really happy to see that he found that."
"I think he can impact well, especially the last third," added Matos"
"Now he moves between the lines, he understands really well where to position himself. But I think he can impact much more of the game and that's what I want from him that he can start impacting the way we build and the way we move"
"I think because the way he understands the game, he can play more than one position, thats obvious, but we are going to use him in different roles and I am really happy that he could put a stamp on with a goal on this performance"
Seems Matos, like bellamy sees something in cullen.

‘Now he moves between the lines, he understands really well where to position himself’
Was exactly what I was trying to say above.
Matos wants more from him and that’s a fair challenge. I’m not surprised Matos sees something in him, most managers do.

I call him slide rule, he has a sweet left foot, can put in a decent pass, and as last night showed a nice finish, whether he has been played right by us who knows?
but it wouldnt surprise me if he ever left hed be a bigger surprise than the knockers think.

Towards the end of the game last night he was busting a gut to charge down their keepers long clearance, then they went and broke down the left and Murphy was getting to the byline, who was there to block the cross for a corner? Liam Cullen.
Phenomenal workrate and desire from one end of the pitch to the other to help the team which is exactly what is needed when preserving a lead but was probably missed by most.

It's one game and Cullen like Keith mentioned is an enigma. I like others want him to be more consistent, but last night it felt like he was playing like he did in the Wales Squad. I hope for Cullen this can be his turning point as we need someone who can compete with Widell and both fighting for that place.

After watching the highlights we could have been 2 nil up early on, idah made no attempt whatsoever to try and get on the end of eoms cross and if ronald had a bit more on the galbraith cross he would have probably scored.
But ateotd we got what we deserved.

Idah is going to get the odd start but he’s very much second choice. West Brom in the cup will probably be the next one.
He’s really got to bust a gut when he does get an opportunity. I felt he let himself down a bit last night. He’s a better player than that.

Totally agree about Ronald and have said so on numerous occasions in here.
However, what I saw last night was when he had the ball at times, second half especially, he had three defenders with him. Why, I don’t know as he can’t really get the better of a one-on-one. But in these moments, with two extra men marking him, there will be gaps elsewhere which we need to be prepared for and exploit.
At the moment there seems to be a (misplaced?) aura about him backed up by the commentators saying how good a player he is - though they did say he’s not PL standard. Let’s exploit this before he’s found out completely!
I think against Oxford he actually got played in behind a couple of times. That’s his game, he can’t beat any defender from a standing start but give him a yard and he’s away. Matos wants to play the game much quicker and this will definitely help Ronald/Eom/inoussa . Give them time.

makes you wonder why oppositon managers tell players to double/treble up on such a crap player
What’s strange is you posting about he when we collected three vital points It’s not about ME or YOU You haven’t grasped that yet I know Perch is dead , too but you try to intimidate me every week New posters don’t give a fork about individuals former user names Being a stand out man , explain why you refer to my former username Nobody should deflect comments away from a topic You do so quit it out of respect for Keith If you want to meet me to have a go in person be my guest If you want to possse take do it by DM You’ve got until tomorrow as you’re going onto ignore

Probably because if they didn’t he would have more space and time 🤷🏻♂️
The issue is when he does get free his crossing is shocking, However,h last night defensively he was solid.
lets be honest Keith if he didnt have weaknesses he wouldnt be here a PL xlub would have snapped him up before us
He can beat players but not from a standing start when he is running onto the ball hencan beat players,he did so early in the first half last night put a ballnintonthe box but there was no one on the end of it
He is a food wimg back as we have seen in the last two games and Williams fancied him there.
I get why some fans call him out as crap.....but I remember a certain winger called Leighton James wbo did nothingnfor 88 minutes but would produce 2 minutes of magic not that I am suggesting these two are in the same class

If he puts you in ignore he won't know, he would never do it.
He tells lots of people that he's going to put them on ignore but never does. Possibly because he doesn't know how.
