Predicting France by 10 in the opener tonight. What a game to kick off though.

Dupont back for Les Bleus at last.

Judging by the first 25 minutes, I’d say 10 points is conservative

Looking ominous for the Irish currently. This could be a rout.

If England can avoid defeat between now and 14 March, what a game it'll be in Paris between the two....and the French always have a meltdown in them. Then again, they always have an unplayable one too. Hard to look beyond them.

Lovely touch by the French, their players have made a sign language video to accompany the national anthem.

Could be a damaging defeat this for Ireland here as panic begins to set in with no points on the board. Thought Ireland looked dangerous early doors but just kept making silly errors where it mattered. France well in control after the first Try went over. I imagine they will want to make a big statement in week one so will come out for more points in second half. I'm thinking France win by at least 30 now.

During a break in play midway through the first half a massive Samsung advert appeared in a split-screen. I don’t recall seeing this sort of thing before. Is it new? As if the elongated ads on the pitch aren’t annoying enough. Ah, well, something else to get annoyed about I suppose.

Yes they warned us about this before the kick off. Other countries have been doing that for years, Australia were in 2003 every time there was a break in play, when I was over there. Maximise your revenue potential I suppose.

It's been done in Horse Racing for years but this is the time time in Rugby thats it's been done.

Going to be one in each half of every game on ITV in the Six Nations.
I think The Irish Broadcaster RTE is doing the same for their coverage, not sure about France & Italy but they have the option to do it if they want.

So an incentive to slow down the scrum rather than speed it up. Just what the doctor ordered.

We’ve had 10 good years of competing at the top table.
Party’s over . I’m afraid.

I shudder to think what the doctor might order after competing in a scrum.

That was the kind of expansive, free-flowing rugby that the French used to play years ago and although I’m an England supporter I found it an absolute joy to watch.

France were very good apart from the 10-15 minute spell where they seemed to ease off and Ireland scored their 2 tries. Some of the french passing and handling was awesome.

As a Wales fan, I dread to think what France will do to us next weekend especially as we will get thumped by England tomorrow.

Last night had been coming for Ireland.

Farrell's steadfast refusal to rotate or not use "his boys" has now meant when there's an injury crisis he's finally forced to bed in new players, they've had too little exposure to test rugby.

Ever since Catt left as attack coach, we have looked completely blunt. Goodman is absolutely stealing a living.

That performance confirms my pre-tournament belief that Ireland will finish fourth this year, behind come permutation of Eng/Fra/Sco.

Wales to avoid Wooden Spoon - somehow. Don't know how (Italy?) but can only hope.

kicking the ball repeatedly to the best free running team in the world pretty staggering. Pack and lineout were ok. Back 3 slow AF. Suspect O'Gara will be getting the removal men round this year.

Scotland have lost 11 in a row against Ireland . If they can’t beat them this year they may as well jack it in .

I suspect that Wales v Italy on the last Saturday will decide the wooden spoon (again)

Just watched Italy 18 : 15 Scotland. Italy were the better team. Scotland made far so many errors, particularly losing a lot of their own line outs. Townsend's claim that he has his best squad in this 6 Nations looks unconvincing now. But the conditions were farcical with much of the game played in an absolute downpour. The pitch was a swimming pool.

Points betting is 55+ right now. Can see that being England's score alone.

Haven't the modern day rules just ruined that game?

Ok don't put him in a headlock but I don't remember too many life threatening injuries in the six (or 5) nations over the years.

15 against 13 is a waste of time.
