I don't think it’s Covid that did for them, I think the 2 issues that really put them in the spotlight and sealed their fate was the 20mph speed limit fiasco and secondly the increase in AM’s. At a time when the public have had a guts full of politicians and were tightening our belts increasing the number of politicians was mental. | | | |

I saw him and a Labour MS from Bridgend attend an important debate in the Senedd by Zoom. Eluned should have banned that practice and got her troop to attend in person.
Why did they y not attend? TUC business ? Private business.? It does not look good at all. The MS from Bridgend was 30 mins away. MPs in Westminster seem crammed in for PMQs. No zoom there.

The argument is that it’s not a default, but to all intents and purposes it is. I’ve no issue with 20mph on housing estates where there are kids playing, or in a town centre where there are high concentrations of pedestrians and other hazards etc and I think an awful lot of people would share that view, but the way in which the 20mph was implemented is crackers. FWIW I think we need to be smarter, why do schools need to be 20mph zones at 11pm - not many kids around that time of the night. PC supported them in the extra 36 am's, I don't expect that to change that's 120 million out of the coffers straight away, I fear for Wales under that clown Iorwerth, great to see Darren Millar win his seat the 14yrs of the previous Tory government in Westminster has done for them in Wales, I actually voted yesterday for the first time in as long as I can remember the Tories coming 4th below labour in most areas in Wales is disappointing for Darren Millar and a bit of a shock.

More likely to get even crazier. Plaid can order Labour around at this point and they'll have a comfortable working majority. I suppose the only bright point is that the Greens got basically nowhere. In Wales we already had Plaid as the further left option.
I will say however that although I am dismissive of Plaid in general, their first candidate in my constituency, Gwyn Williams, is a decent sort based on my interactions with him. He is (or was) a consultant Ophthalmologist at Singleton Hospital. He'll be a loss to the profession if he goes full time in politics. [Post edited 8 May 19:49]

The good thing about this guy is he will know about Wales's reliance on English specialty services, he will know that Singleton Hospital refers patients with eye cancer to NHS Liverpool.
