He stood against the Carpetbagger Torsten Bell in the last general election for no reason other than (his direct words to me in our conversation) "someone has to. Someone has to object to them just parachuting someone in".
He had no illusions of actually winning. Just of fighting a battle that had to be fought. I actually voted for him. Probably the only time I'll ever vote Plaid.

Mostly just protest votes I'd imagine. People will kick and scream, but when presented with the actual costs and risks of independence most will shy away.
If I thought for a split second that Plaid would advocate a low tax, business friendly environment that went out to turbocharge Wales as a place for companies and entrepreneurs to base themselves and thrive then I could maybe be pursuaded, but we all know that's not going to happen. |  |

I don't think it’s Covid that did for them, I think the 2 issues that really put them in the spotlight and sealed their fate was the 20mph speed limit fiasco and secondly the increase in AM’s. The new PC voters are ex Labour voters, who were left with nowhere else to turn after 27yrs of virtually total mismanagement by Welsh Labour.

I was not impressed to see his contribution in an important Senedd debate. It was by zoom from Swansea, It was not clear if he voted in his boxer shorts.
