I heard yesterday that Ioreth spoke to Starmer after PC won the elections and spoke to him about HS2 compensation, the Barnett formula and before Starmer could put the phone down said he q=wanted to raise the subject of independence. 5 minutes into his leadership he raises this. As suggested by Martin Shipton, this is the rump of Welsh Labour doing their best to undermine the Plaid government probably at the behest of KS and the most woeful Welsh Secretary since George Thomas, Jo Stevens. They got the concessions they were after in the budget and still voted against.

I read the other day that the M4 was actually paid for and built by the US government to speed up transportation from the south wales docks to their various airfields on the route to London so they could get their supplies/ammo/cargo there quicker. | |

I’m completely against the 20mph limit in its current guise and would revert to the 30mph limit in most areas except where it’s justified, for example busy town centres, outside schools (but only during certain hours ( for example 07.30 to maybe 7 or 8 or 9pm when activities have finished - lots of schools are now used by community groups etc in the evenings) etc.
What this article doesn’t say is where the collisions are taking place. It may be there have been no fatalities in 20mph zones which would mean the policy had been a success, or it may be those collisions in a 20mph zone which resulted in a fatality were attributable to drivers doing 70 in a 20 or drivers high on drugs or intoxicated or drivers texting which is increasing significantly. It may be that collisions in 20mph zones have increased, but just don’t know because there’s no info there. [Post edited 14 Sep 12:33]

Tghen, when young people are feeing Wales because they don't see a decent future here the isolationists blame the English "incomers"
My son has said for several years his aim is to leave Wales because in his words, it's dire here and getting worse! He's 18 in 2 weeks. he's started learning Italian and that is his aim, to move there. I love Italy, love the food, love the people, the weather is better and to be honest, I never really did a second team but our trip to Rome had us both supporting Roma!!! We both want to go back.

Now then, my point of view, they changed to 20 where there was no need and wasted money. Then they changed some back wasting even more money. In the meantime (and in my local area I have a few examples) there are roads that are 40/50/60 that need slowing down. There are country lanes where you can do 60 and it's dangerous.
It was my bugbear with the Senedd at the time, poor planning and implementation. They should have gone national with a road review andchanged every speed limit that needed it, whether that was to increase or decrease it.
It was disjointed, incompetent and negligent and wasted millions. And yes, it cost Labour dearly.
Now we have Plaid, whom I voted for by the way, and they are going off piste already, doing stupid stuff that the majority don't want (such as the Celtic countries meeting) when there is so much hard work that desperately needs doing. Our politicians are truly woeful. | | | |
