Been some bad smashes in Speedway recently too. Tai Woofingden came back after horrific injuries only to see his bike literally explode shooting him off nd trapping him under the bike . Only seven bust ribs and vertebrae injured though !
Harsh as it sounds, he knew the risks and his family will take solace in the fact he died doing what he loved. Tragic though. RIP brave man.
He started racing at the TT in 2016 so had plenty of experience, but that doesn't matter racing there, Peter Hickman is testament to that even after winning endless TT titles, he ended up having a serious crash during practice before the racing started last year, he was really lucky though and lived to tell the tail. I'm guessing that he's there this year racing again as well, I don't know as I've not seen the list of riders as of yet.
I really hope that no one else loses their lives this year, especially with bad weather forecast for next week.

There was a serious incident on day 1 where a rider left the road and ended up in hospital together with some spectators.
I’d loved to have gone there when I was younger to see the races but won’t do it now. Too much like hard work. I am however off to the British F1 GP in July for 4 days. Looking forward to that, never been before.

Went to Silverstone years ago with brother in-laws and Brands twice before they changed to Silverstone.
Never been to a TT though, think I'd prefer to just go and visit the Island rather than go to the TT itself.
I lost a couple of friends to a motorbike accident in their late teens, that was it for me and motorbikes.
I still feel it when I read stories like the one you posted, let's hope she makes a decent recovery.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

I owner bikes for many years and got trained up in Plod to Class 1 bike but didn’t fancy whizzing around on a BMW tourer bike in city . No fun apart from escort duty No fun in winter either and no matter how well trained you’ve been you will come off if hit diesel spillages , for example Racing on a track is actually safer as the others on it are professional and know what to do and they’re going the same way Many pro riders would never use a motor bike on a public road Speedway is the ultimate danger motor sport due to close proximity of others and fact the bikes are bastuds Looking back , I’ve been both lucky and crazy and glad my kids didn’t see what I did in two wheels

I had a run in in a petrol station yesterday with two young bikers who jumped the queue ( big queue maybe because the prices are the cheapest in the area), these two bikers jumped the queue when I was next for petrol, I got out and told them there is a queue here, one drove go the back of the queue the other was reluctant, then when it was my turn to use the pump one of them came up to have a go (verbally but in a threatening way), I told him in no uncertain to get to the back of the queue. At this stage everyone was looking out of the petrol station windows and people thanked me for standing up to them and putting them in their place. Bikers hey.
