Outside of his stats with the last game and yes I'm aware he has some alright stats with us, Burgess is a odd player. I don't think I remember one long pass he completed with us last season and he botched so many times even his short passes. Let's not forget the amount of own goals. I'm sure he has and can be OK in another team, but doesn't seem a Matos player. Who knows [Post edited 19 Jun 22:25]

Was signed under the Sheehan system. Not a lot of possession at the back and focus on set pieces, I can’t imagine he will work too well with Matos. | | | |

These players are useful if used properly. How many time have we all seen Swansea play good football take the lead away from home then get done by multiple set pieces and equalisers and often winners. He should come on in these situation and shore up the defence with his bulk and experience. I thought Santos would do this but he was just e ignored.
Swansea teams do get out muscled in this leagues and the team needs support from the bench. "Philosophy coaches" want to play out of pressure but it is not always possible.
Bellamy could have brought on Cabango just to keep Dzecko off the score sheet in the play off when Bosnia went all in. but chose Cullen Thomas and Harris ,. |  |

4 own goals in the last 35 games says it all.
The one in the WC is the worst of the lot. Nanosecond my arse. He clearly sees the threat coming down the flank and when the ball is delivered in has every opportunity to anticipate the delivery, turn and right foot it out but for reasons known only to him clumsily stumbles into it with his left. You can't blame fatigue or heat as it was very early in the game. Pub League defending on the highest stage.
We won't get out of this league with him and Cabango as CBs they both have limitations. Matos improved their performance and confidence as the season progressed but they are not long term solutions which is why Welsh was brought in. Expect there may be more changes yet and Lissah can also play across the whole back 4.
We all feel sorry for him and being subbed etc I'm sure he's a great lad but sentiment won't win you anything [Post edited 20 Jun 9:59]

Both him and Cabango uncomfortable when defending balls coming in from wide with their weaker foot.It is notuncommon in centrehalves but at Championship level you would expect the mistakes made to be rarer than they are with them.
Cabango has improved overthe years but still seems to make bad decisions letting the pressure get to him, as for Burgess the mistakes are there to be seen, the pairing works to a degree but needs updating, the communication between the two isn't quite right, both going for the same aerial ball instead of one dropping off, the same communication problem could include Vigouroux, could be put down to the rightback issue last season but you have to look at the inexperience in the midfield.O'Brien offered that experience but when he was played higher up the pitch the was not as effective defensively.
Fulton took that experience role but Stamenic needed to get up to speed defensively to know how to read the opposition set up and is still learning to adapt as required.
We had Galbraith as stand in right back which affected both defence and attack. [Post edited 20 Jun 13:19]
