There was a point when he was with Wigan where they seemed to be losing 9-0 almost every week. Winning the FA cup was a great achievement but they still got relegated the same season. I’m not sure why his stock is still seemingly so high. |  |

Martinez who saw him training everyday did not like what he saw and did not select him. He is no doubt a good player but we are talking about the World Cup. He was not considered good enough to lead the line.
We have just seen England go out resorting to panic hoofball for one third of the game. Martinez would have done a better job than Tuchel perhaps ? He failed at the same extreme peak as most managers do. There can only be one winner. .
All the also ran are "no good" or "frauds". They were very good just not the very best.
