Burgess fault. Nobody near him, plenty of time to judge the flight of the ball, and he gets nowhere near it

You don’t always get what you deserve , they offered nothing of any note until their first shot on target.

This is a critical call from Matos now.. If we go into the season with Burgess at the back I fear for us a lot.. He offers practically nothing to the side.. he had so many mistakes in him teams only have to wait and he'll offer them up something.. Huge call now but Welsh has to start

Tymon looked at fault but it was a bad bounce over him

Doesn't help when our players know he isnt good with the ball at his feet and they still pass to him with an opposition player close to him.

Hes an out and out old style centre half, he hasnt put a foot wrong with headed and feet clearances the only time he makes mistakes is when he given the ball with an opposition player close to him.

People only see his mistakes especially when they are costly but never see the duels he wins and clearances he makes.

He was more to blame imo, totally misjudged the bounce, unlike him.

Yep, we had 3 clear chances imo, should have bagged at least one.

Brum offer just one thing, set pieces, we have defended them well, apart from 1.

Indeed, whether Burgess was at fault or not, we should be ahead. I hope this isn’t going to be another season of missed chances and what ifs.

It’s a familiar pattern
Dominate game, miss chances then defence switches off
We need to break this cycle
Basics

I think we have clearly established that he was not at fault. However, haters hate, it's their sole function in life. As for missed chances, we still have Vipi in reserve.

It’s not hate
It’s fair to suggest Burgrss is limited and pressured rather clumsy
That’s not hate
Hope we’re not seeing more incessant attempts at trying to bully posters off this site
People need to reflect on what a” hate” entails
Cabango is also limited
Tymon is not a good defender

well whatever happened we do not look settled start of second half in fact all over the place as onhunglow says same pattern but early days

He jumped up way too early and headed fresh air, definitely part of a poor defensive effort.

Same as seasons gone by. Not a good start at all.

We can’t even pass the ball to each other at the moment. Sorry, but I’d expect to see better at Underhill Park. And I know it’s first game in earnest of the season but all the same.

It’s not “ hate” is it
We state the obvious and that is our defence looks fragile two centre backs who are flaky
Fact
We’ve spent on new players but our defence is that which was most in need of revamping

We are showing done promising touches

We have committed 7 fouls for 2 yellow cards. Birmingham have 14 fouls for no yellow cards.

Same as seasons gone by! Other teams bully us and kick us in to next week. Nothing ever happens to them.

Both yellows deserved. I’d say the one on Widdel may have been let go as there were t many of those types of fouls going in on players but can’t really complain.

Burgess the other one? Really can’t complain.

I’ve not seen any fouls on us deserving a yellow.

That said, undoubtedly there’ll be games where we’ll be unfairly in the wrong end of decisions.
