If Vipotnik is still here in September where will that leave Idah and Wales. Obviously Stewart if fit will be in the Squad, Matos stated that Woodward will be one of the u21s in the first team squad this season. Either we are banking on Vipotnik leaving or we are overstocked up front unless we play a 2 and then we have a glut in midfield. Some players are not even going to make the bench. |
I expect Wales to be heading out on loan. It’s a nice thought that VIP and Idah could fit as a pair but I can only see that happen if we’re chasing a game.
Wonder if the Birmingham game will give a clue to style of play we will aim for throughout the season. Really looking forward to it. | | | |

I still think Vip is off & replacing a 20 plus goal scorer in the championship is very difficult.

Probably unlikely any of our other players will be able to replicate Vips goal return of plus 20.
Think both Idah and Stewart are capable of hitting 15+
Then there's the goals that will need to come from Yeo, Opoku, Just and Inoussa, all of whom will need to be in or around the double figure mark for us to be pushing where we want to be.
If we are dominant up front and playing on the front foot, Walta Franco and Widell will no doubt chip in with a few of their own too. | | | |

Whatever happens this season we need to acknowledge the ambition of the owners who are investing heavily in the team for the second season running.
Over to Matos and the team now to generate a positive return on the investment.
Things I would like to see this season:
- Inject some pace to our play going forward, break quickly now and again is an idea
- Mix things up more tactically instead of starting from the keeper every time
- Add more attacking threat to our away performances
- Get more crosses in the box
- Dont wait to go behind before changing things up, be more pro active
One things is for certain this will be a bumpy ride and a difficult watch at times. I'm keeping my expectations low for now and hope we have evolved from last season into a more dynamic team that can compete consistently both at home and away. |

Sorry, I didn't see your reply. Yes, it's a tough start, made a lot harder with the loss of Burgess long term and Franco until September. I was of the opinion that a tough start was ideal, as the club seemed to be on a high as recently as last Friday. By Saturday, the air was coming out of the balloon at a rate of knots. The honeymoon period for Matos is now over, so we may get to see a real test of his ability. A gentle first 4 games before a brutal 3 game bounce against promotion contenders. Momentum is going to be vital. | | | |

I agree with your view. Maybe 10 points from the 1st 4 games could generate that mo' you mention is really needed. I saw lots of positives from last Sat's 1st half. Convert most of the wasted opps and Swans would be playing @ home against Brentford.
I still have high hopes that our new additions will really make a difference and assist us in making the playoffs, or better. Vip needs to start getting up to last season's production level if we're to have any chance. It will be really interesting if Idah, Stewart, or one or more of the newbies can contribute. Three wins and a draw in the first four games is a really tough ask. Undefeated would be excellent but still a tough ask in the Championship. We can but hope. |  | | |
