The point you make about the overall numbers is valid, but it’s pretty much always been that way. The headline overarching figure is the figure which is used to calculate the net figure.

We have to recognise how hard it is to deport people to countries, who for whatever reason, we don't have a returns agreement with. And that is unlikely to change whatever the colour govenment and whoever is in charge, despite what Farage and Lowe claim, and irrespective of ECHR status.
The top 5 countries for small boat arrival nationalities are Eritrea, Afghanistan, Iran, Somalia and Sudan. We have a legacy arrangement for returns with Somalia but they are uncopoerative, but none of the other countries. Once they're here, we're stuck with them.
Germany negotiated an agreement with Afghanistan via Qatar, it failed spectaculalry with less than a dinghy full being sent back. Iran aren't going to do us any favours for obvious reasons. The other countries can't sort out their own problems, any deal would cost us millions and probably fail.
We have to sort immigration, the misinformation around it is tearing the country apart. But there are thousands of people (mainly men) on the shores of France thinking they can come here and earn decent money. And when compared to where they come from they can, they aren't coming to live four to a room in a crap hotel and get £50 a week, they get that across the rest of Europe.
As i've said before if you have a problem with small boat arrivals, don't use car washes, vape shops, turkish barbers, delivery services etc. The customers of these places are facilitating the problem.

That may involve the Riyal Navy or Coastguard stopping them at the midway point under threat of fire and towing them BACK not here.
It’s come to a point that this is more of an invasion now exacerbated by the fact that the people coming are all fighting age men. We are holding up a white flag with ‘Welcome’ written on it. It’s gone beyond what we can take.
If it’s going to take investment in infrastructure to do it then it will be money well spent. But stop them we must and then move on to finding a way to remove those that are here illegally.
