At least we will at some point in the future benefit from the Green levy, but perhaps it could be a sliding scale dependent on the total cost.
The elephant in the room though is profit. Energy companies are set to make £100 billion in out and out profit in 2026, the highest amount ever, that's directly after other record breaking years of profit blamed on the invasion of Ukraine. Profit alone from UK customers is equivalent to about £1.50 per house, per day. It is likley to total about £12 billion in 2026.
I don't really understand the entire situation but Shell's recent deal with Equinor has apparently sacved them around £1.5 billion in UK tax payment. Others have done similar through pooling assests.
