I saw a program a while back on the development of Manchester and the grants available if you incorporated community projects into developments. Gary Neville who had a very large development portfolio and Andy Burnham were included discussing grants available. Manchester City have included community projects in many of their developments. With the recent revelations it will be interesting to see if everything there was above board. I had my doubts at the time frequently visiting Manchester, in my mind a fabulous city, but some of the development decions just dont sit right. |  | | |

Provide them with free serviced accommodation when in London, plus admin staff employed by the state rather than family members. I think an occupational pension is reasonable, entitlement kicking in after ten years of service.
I would expect ministers to have transportation provided within London on the proviso that they're working on the move. I also see no reason for them to travel by budget airline either. |  |

MPs are in the middle manager salary range.

I know a guy who would make an excellent MP. Hard working, smart, qualified with a job where he's responsible for hundreds of staff and on occasion oversight of hundreds of millions of pounds. Perhaps more.
He'd have to take a paycut of at least 40% to go to Westminster. Probably a bit more by now as it's been a while since he admitted what he earned. People like him are not unusual in the UK, yet Parliament is stuffed with part time lawyers and party loyalists who have never held down an actual job.
If we want to be run better as a nation, we have to improve the quality of the people doing the running. | |

Budget airlines was the EU. they used to get £728 per journey, no matter what it cost. So they flew budget airlines and pocketed the vast majority. Nice work if you've got your nose in the trough, and thank goodness it's stopped, well in the UK at least. | | | |
