Secondly, three of the four were British born with the fourth born in Jamaica as a child and was a British citizen. Thirdly, I didn’t mention any political parties. I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make. [Post edited 3 Oct 18:17]

Stark raving lunacy ain't it? Done during the very time when ISIS exists along with many other Islamic terrorist groups. The security services have an impossible task, a ball and chain on both legs now, because of the additional numbers of 'unknowns' that have already entered the country.

I didn’t phrase it very well. It wasn’t meant to be a political thing - it’s a failure of all governments.

| Iranian Small Boat Migrants on Terrorism Charges on 15:11 - Oct 3 by Gwyn737 | That 15% figure is important. The others I’m not as bothered about. We can continue to legislate the criminalisation of burning the Koran and banning images of Mohammed. Sharia Law doesn’t trump UK law and that needs to stay. (I think it’s worth noting that both Jewish and evangelical Christians have the same type of community courts) So the question remains, what do we do about the 600k if we don’t want to impinge on the freedoms of the other 3.4 million? I’m sure with the public facing job you have (like me) have had interactions with Muslims who are diamonds and bring a lot to the country. [Post edited 3 Oct 18:17]

Even the "diamonds" will hold views that are simply unacceptable in a secular society. I'm sorry, but if they're not on board with that then they need to be elsewhere. Demographics are only going one way, and things need to be sorted before we get to the point where they can't be.
| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |

It’s still the ‘how’ though, isn’t it? As you say, it can only really be pushed by a secular society. The US are so different to us in this respect with using Conservative Christianity to push things through - we don’t have that over there (thankfully).

My concern is that the 10 occupants didn’t have their journey interrupted too much and are safely on their way to the UK with help from our government. It wouldn’t be fair otherwise😏

Re Dr W’s remark that "demographics are only going one way," I find it interesting to reflect on how that was allowed to happen. Around 1980 there was a fairly widespread expectation among establishment politicians, officials and demographers that the population resulting from post-war immigration would settle at a stable long-term level, rather than continuing to grow indefinitely. In 1979 the OPCS had predicted that the “New Commonwealth and Pakistani” ethnic-origin population would settle at 3.3 million. Those like Enoch Powell who argued that an ethnically-distinct population would persist and grow, because of in-group reproduction as well as further immigration, were heavily criticized both by Labour politicians of the day and quite a few in the Tory Party. Here are extracts from an immigration debate in March 1980. Enoch Powell (UUP): I was saying that we know, because it is the result of facts which already exist, the minimum proportion in future which that population will represent to the whole over the areas of this country which are concerned. We know that in central London it will be one-third or more; and we know that there will be a similar ratio in many of the other great cities of England.(…) It is absurd to contend that one can bring an end to immigration when this is to be the pattern of our future population. By the very natural order of things such a population, taking it as a whole—the parts vary to some extent—is bound to involve—I almost said "to require" —continuing immigration. Therefore, the attempt to deal with the anxieties of great numbers in our cities, the attempt to deal with the fears or feelings or whatever it was to which the Prime Minister was referring, by adjustment of the detailed requirements for immigration, is not merely futile; it is either deception or it is, more charitably, self-deception.(…) Alexander Lyon (L) Is not the fallacy of the argument of the right hon. Member for Down, South (Mr. Powell) that when this population stabilises at 3.3 million there will not be any substantial danger such as he argued in the past. These people, though their ethnic origin may be Asian or West Indian, will be British in their outlook and the composition of this society will be different; it will be settled and harmonious. (…) Eric Heffer (L) I have been listening very carefully to the right hon. Gentleman. I must explain that I have black relatives and I do not take kindly to the sort of statements that he is making. Apart from that, what is the logic of his argument, where is he leading us? (…) What does he propose? Is he suggesting that we should send all these coloured people back? (…) Alexander Lyon The right hon. Member gives offence every time he opens his mouth on this subject. https://api.parliament.uk/hist It is Powell who many still denigrate, but Labour politicians like Lyon and Heffer are the ones who deserve to be remembered for their part in the genesis of the problem we now face. Billy tells a lovely story about an SAS trip to the SBS. One of the SBS asked him if he wanted to go for a run. Billy, as the fitness instructor for the SAS, couldn't back down. After 18 miles, the SBS guy finally stopped. He turned to Billy, then opened the gate and walked down his garden path. He waved goodbye as he went in his front door, leaving Billy to run 18 miles back to base on his own.

Lyon and Heffer were at the very least stupid though possibly misinformed. Governments know the way things are going long before we reach situations like today. We know Blair didn't tell us the truth about immigration when he "opened the flood gates" and today we see Lammybtrying to use the courts to prevent full factual information about immigrant criminal activity coming out. It's not just Labour though, the Tories had 14 years after Blair and did nothing much. All our governments are complicit in the damage done to this country. I don't hate anybody because of the colour of their skin but we know many UK Asian families (particularly South Asian communities) still tend to have slightly larger household sizes and a more multi-generational living than the white British population, though family sizes have been shrinking across generations, as have family sizes of all ethnic groups.
