He nearly ran me over in Dunvant once! I doubt he remembers

First game was home to Watford in the old 4th division, in front of 10.000 fans. Unheard of for Division 4 in those days. Date? 1st March 1978.Finished 3-3 and I was there! If we are still in the Championship next season, wouldn't it be great if we could play Watford on 1st March 2028 to celebrate the 50th anniversary. Wednesday night, live on Sky! I'll be there again!

My memory is going! Maybe it was 10,000 on the North Bank (he says in a pathetic attempt to cover up his own mistake). Thanks FJ.

I’m sure we had over 20,000 for the chesterfield game the year after so 10000 does seem a tad low. I’m sure there were no ground restrictions then either.

That was my favourite. Locked at 1-1 when we needed the win. So who does John Toshack bring on as sub? Himself naturally! And, of course, he scores the winning goal and we're promoted. It was like something from a Boy's Own Annual that you read on Christmas morning.

For some reason myself and my wife were in the enclosure, not the North Bank that night. But when he headed the ball we were able to watch the flight of the ball from directly behind him.

Worra night.

I was at the Chesterfield game. In the North Bank which was my preference in those days. Tosh was one of the most prolific exponents of attacking a headed ball. He was an advocate of “ head it back in the direction it came from “. None of this fancy glancing header stuff for Tosh. I recall the goal clearly. What a header it was. Those were the very best times to be a Swans fan for me. Others will have a different opinion but to top the First Division at various times throughout that season is almost unbelievable isn’t it. Didn’t we have some injury problems later in the season? And a small squad. I’m not certain.

Only an idiot would eat a turkey curry on Christmas day

Wealth and investment didn't seem to play such a massive role in those days. Saying that I went to a Manchester United v Nottingham Forest game in the 80s and Manchester United were being presented with a cheque for a grant of well over £1M towards their new hospitality suites and remember thinking we could virtually develop the whole of the Vetch for that.

That Chesterfield header was a really big moment in Swans history, and I'm another who was lucky enough to be standing on the North Bank to see it.

He jumped for the cross and seemed to hang in the air for an eternity

Remember walking back up Oxford Street after the game and hearing the song “division three can kiss my arse, we’re in division two at last” :-)

Its hard to imagine the fact that at that time the away team had a percentage of the gate receipts, even at grounds like Old Trafford. Sadly by the end of the Swans first season in the top division the visiting teams had that cash withdrawn.

The gate for the Chesterfield was 22,341
