| Injuries on 14:19 - Oct 20 by Antti_Heinola | If any manager, first team coach or, I dunno, dev squad coach had anything like the record of consistent and total failure that Ben Williams has at this club, they would have been sacked months and months ago. This is an absolute farce. I get the extenuating circumstances. I get there are a lot of games. I get we signed players unlikely to play all season. But this is ludicrous now and has been going on for three seasons. Get this absolute chancer out of the club. Now. There's only one reason he hasn't already gone, we all know what that is. His position is now beyond a joke. These players and the coach are working so hard, but they're being stymied by this bloke with a record at this club of either total failure or doing his job over Zoom. Enough is enough. |

| Injuries on 16:11 - Oct 20 by NorthantsHoop | With Madsen out for a few weeks now is the time to give young Isak Alemayehu a go in central midfield. He looked pretty good in some of the pre-season games and been suprised he has not been brought off the bench yet. |
Was about to post the same. Has been an unplayed sub on many occasions so far this season, must be close to getting some minutes.

| Injuries on 17:06 - Oct 20 with 1621 views | Stainrod | What a blow. I hold no candle for Ben Williams but other than being disappointed I’m not sure we can necessarily blame him. He might well be doing something wrong, I simply have no idea. If there is something we are doing wrong then I would far rather we used any transfer budget we might have on using data science to recruit the most cutting edge sports scientist who has the best track record in football at keeping people fit. But then again, how do you assess that? One of the reasons Declan Rice is a £100m footballer is because he can play 60 games a season at an incredible level. Obvs the likes of Arsenal will have a better fitness record because they aren’t taking chances on Lampety, Poku, JCS etc. There does SEEM to be an issue given the 3 yrs of major issues, but whenever I have asked what specifically that actually is, it turns out other fans don’t really know either. | Injuries on 17:16 - Oct 20 with 1539 views | TK1 | Clearly, these are depressing injuries to key players and understand the despondency. Feel it too. However...do we know what the injuries are? Burrell was injured with Jamaica, so seems harsh to blame QPR. Madsen I saw the contact that injured him, I think. Lamptey was also a contact injury, pretty sure. Chair, however, that was a muscle. Or was it? Still obviously top secret to maximise the competitive advantage of not having your best player available. Saito and Dunne, we are not allowed to know. Lloyd, an ankle, sounds like a knock. Mbengue and Dembele are ACLs and that's just the devil's work. Not sure again you can blame QPR (though Mbengue's knee was strapped. Was it the same knee?) I know we want to burn the witch but unless they're muscle injuries, it's hard to mitigate beyond not playing so many games in such a short space of time at the start of the season. If most medical departments are having nightmares, is it really all the medical departments? Or is the schedule and the intensity? I lean towards the later. The players who are available need maximum support. So all "I'm done with Vale", "Kolli is out of his depth", "Kone is fat and lazy" etc posts must be paused, surely. Hope we can get through these next four games without any further serious injuries to key players, then regroup for the next onslaught. | | | |

| Injuries on 17:29 - Oct 20 with 1477 views | bosh67 | I feel sorry for Stephan. Literally a few weeks ago he had very strong options and a chance to really move us forward. Now he is missing a lot of his best players and if we start to slide it's him who will get the grief. As I just said on another thread here, we can't compete with most of the other teams in this division so we have to try and gamble on really good players who may or may not be able to recover from bad injury issues. My fear is that without Madsen we'll struggle because he is so good in that position and that by the time he's back we'll be back in our usual lower mid table position, battling to climb again. In theory, had most of our players stayed fit and injury free we would be a good bet for the play-offs. Without them it is a lot tougher. I wonder if they may push Cirkin into left midfield as he was very good for Sunderland in that position. Hopefully Dembele comes back and doesn't break down on the right? | |

If most medical departments are having nightmares, is it really all the medical departments? Or is the schedule and the intensity? I lean towards the later. That does seem most likely. This season's ridiculous raft of games so early in the schedule, interspersed with extended breaks, is likely to be the main culprit. Other clubs in this division do have similar issues, naturally those with deeper squads (and, more money) should benefit most. We'll probably suffer worse than some, and less than others, as usual. If you're going to buy a load of high performance cars with dodgy service histories and known risks then you best have a damn fine fleet of the finest mechanics and engineers to make sure you can use them. I'm boring myself with car analogies and our player availability / proven runners that get you about and aren't parked on your drive looking good and "cooking". Declan Rice is an extreme example but... if you add up the wages per week that are never available to play I bet it is a tidy sum and would easily equate to 2 or 3 robust proven Championship players who'll give you 46 games a year. I'd stake a large sum on Burrell's injury being a reoccurance of his ruptured hamstring so that is quite possibly his career at a high level down the pan. Totally agree on investing in this area but Williams has to be part of the problem -- just look at the correlation of his time here. The rumours about the players canteen and his attitude. Whispers that certain players openly saying the approach to fitness is a joke and employing their own PT's. I say again - if you're going to invest in players that need huge focus on their health then make sure you've got that covered. Anyway... 13 wins to get.

As has been pointed out well elsewhere, it’s almost the norm for clubs like us to have long injury lists. Plus, is there another side to the story. Tempting fate here, but what about the ones who haven’t been injured but might have been on past history, eg Clarke- Salter and Charles? Also, is it just me or has Dembele’ recovery been managed particularly well? There may be others.

Can it really be a coincidence that so many of our players get injured every season for the past few years?Or is it mostly down to the medical team? Other teams have injuries, but our list of injured players over the past few seasons would make a whole series of casualty on the beeb.

| Injuries on 18:37 - Oct 20 with 1067 views | numptydumpty | Good gawd Not looked at much Rangers stuff for last couple of days. This injury situation is just dreadful - mild and polite description. Am aware other clubs face similar and aware we take a punt on decent but injury prone players but this is beyond bad. I hate this club at times. And this is one of those times.Crikey. The level of injuries and the times out for many are actually ridiculous in a professional set up. We have 25 full squad members and all are decent. However if you took a poll with availability I would suggest we have around 13 squad positions covered over 46 games if it was extrapolated data and a lot of the players out are absolutely key players. So you would have to say perhaps the squad will achieve 16th at best, once more. We are just finding different ways to the promised land ie16th . So, just when we started the sesson we all felt top 8 is entirely possible, most of us now may be reconciled to that being a pipe dream in another season. I sincerely hope not - but it could quite easily go that way sadly... [Post edited 20 Oct 18:42]

| Injuries on 18:48 - Oct 20 with 1012 views | HammersmithR | The injury list is getting beyond joke every single season. The one consistent in all of this is Ben Williams. How he keeps his job when it’s job to manage the load of the players defies belief? They do all these reviews every year, but he remains in situ. We sign a striker in January and he has played the whopping sum of 10 mins at Charlton away in nearly a year. Obikwu has never set foot on Loftus Rd for the first team. All this managing minutes and subbing untold players on 60 mins isn’t working. Some of these players like Burrell and Chair were due back on Saturday. Now not until after the international break. Going to be yet another season of mediocrity. It’s an absolute farce. Be another review at the end of the season and like death and taxes. One thing will remain in place for next season. Ben Williams will still be in his job. | | | |

I feel the same. And loaning out decent U 21 players who have good fitness records and who have showed their value last season further makes me despair. 'QPR' - the definition of the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.

I don’t think the club can do anything about Mbengue injury. And we knew about Lamptey. But the injury situation is totally unacceptable. It may cost us getting into the playoffs. With our fit squad, we can compete with the best sides. So frustrating and I feel like a complete muppet for trying to defend the medical / support side of the club. 3 years in a row. It’s totally unacceptable. Wake up Nourry. It’s going to cost us big time.

James, I admire the way you stick to your guns: it would be easy to put the boot in now. I have nothing against Nourry. I don't trust him, but I've never met him and it's not personal. The main thing is that none of us fall out about this. What's important is that something needs to change, and needs to change quick. The worry is that we've spent the last of the Eze money, that we've offered long-term contracts, and that we've mortgaged the house on gaining promotion. This is up to the owners to sort out. It's our club that's at risk. They have lots of money, but we only have one club.
