Premiership v Championship 13:23 - Sep 20 with 910 viewsAl_Bundy

From a fan perspective on quality , match day experience and atmospheres which league offers the most in this regard?

Not advocating we will go down here but what are the plus points of being in each league?

The standard of the Championship from what I have seen so far on televised games is atrocious.

More games is always a plus point, cheaper prices, midweek games etc. Would much rather be in the Premier League though.

That question doesn't really work, because the championship (for us) would be a totally different beast than it was after being in the premier league for 6 years. Like Cardiff, we'd be lucky to get 12K. Also the prize for success is to recover what you already had, which is never as exciting and not achieved that often. Once you've opened the pandora's box of the premier league you can't close it without a severe shock if you are a club our size. Even Newcastle, if they don't make it this time, will suffer massively starting again next year.

There are no advantages to us at all to drop down. We won't even get to play Cardiff next year.

You think our crowds would drop to 12k ? You think we have 6000 odd plastics ?

It's not one or other, it's a whole host of factors. Enjoyment, entertainment, style of play, engagement with the club etc.

Personally i don't see that much difference in the quality between the bottom half of the Prem and the Championship, this tends to be backed up by cup games.
But then I only watch on TV, maybe the atmosphere is better?
What you don't see in the Championship is the big name players, except of course for JJS.

Living away from Swansea, I would really miss streaming the home games. On the plus side, most of the teams in the championship are within about a 3 hour radius of me so would get to most away games.

Upthecity!

We sell season tickets in December though, so unless we're absolutely cut adrift with no hope of recovery, we'll still likely shift 15k.

That's about what we averaged last time we were in the Championship too when we were flirting with automatic promotion for the whole season, so after the first season then yeah absolutely we'd be down to 12k if we weren't at least pushing for the top six.

Oh yeah, how could I forget. We'll be selling them in late October this year!
Maybe I'm being too pessimistic, but the crowds on the way up were when we aspired to the PL, I think it would be less on a downward trajectory.

Let's bloody well hope we never have to find out anyway.

Premiership for me every time. Despite detesting the money side of things there is no doubt it brings massive prestige, marketing and investment to the whole Swansea Bay Region. Probably further afield as well. Without it we would be an even bigger backwater than we are as WAG will give us diddly squat. It is not just the club and supporters that benefit.

Always find it strange why people get called plastic by saying they won't renew their season ticket and get told they should be behind the team. Could it just simply be the case of they don't fancy spending £400 plus a year to watch sh!t boring football?

It's because football used to be a religion for fan(atic)s, and a welcome tribal diversion from real life. Now it's customers and takes itself much too seriously. The West Ham link sums it up pretty well I think. You're right though, when we're all customers the product had better be worth the price.

Premiership - playing top sides in front of 20k plus crowds
Championship - playing quite a few average or poor teams in front of circa 8k (unless we are going for promotion back to the Premiership). Unless we are at top, atmosphere inside stadium a third full on wet Tuesdays in the winter will be awful.
No contest

If we get relegated you'll see thousands for sale cheap that have been bought in advance.
