Ashley Williams, Monk and Tate were not massive but then again Swansea has alway struggled with corners.

Replacing a 6ft4 centre half with someone 5ft10 is a concern for me aswell.

Me too, although I’m hoping he’s the extra CB Cooper had already flagged & if/when Rodon exits we’ll have a more experienced CB lined up but guess we’ll soon find out. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I read earlier that they wanted to put in a buy back clause if he did really well and blossomed. This is not ideal but if it is greater than £10m then why not accept? If he turns out to be Joe Rodon they can buy back at £10m and sell at £15m and give the difference to Foden. Swansea already have back up in Joe Lewis and Brandon Cooper. I read somewhere young Joe was 6ft 3 or 4" and has a season at Torquay behind him. He should be knocking on the door soon.

Why indeed. Only managed 5 appearances last season for FC Twente, as a right back. Had a long term, recurrent injury the year prior. His height will be an issue in his position (as it is with a few of our young prospects like Cam Evans).

England u17 World cup holder tells you his pedigree. Cooper knows his capabilities and his character and has done pretty well with his loans so far. For you every silver lining has a cloud. I trust in the club management.

I have every faith in Coopers choice of players. I'm just interested in the circumstances around the transfer.

Not to bothered about his lack of game time in the eredivisie at 19, he was most likely loaned out just to gain experience within a first team set up. Didn’t know about the long term injury though so that’s a worry. It looks as if it’s permanent deal though so an investment for future, with Rodon set to be off any second and probably Cabango in the summer it doesn’t really block the likes of Cooper and Evans breaking through either. My big concern is the height, don’t want us going back to Potter style conceding off set pieces for fun.

He can play across the backline, but he is only about 5ft 11ins, so would struggle at CB in the Championship imo.

That is better for Swansea if there is no fixed price. Of course Man City could still buy him back at a discount as they would recover their own sell on.
