A very hard watch not least for the fact it begs the question,Is the killing of a daughter honourable .This applies to men who are Turks,Kurds,Pakistanis,Iraqis,in particular. Not my suggestion but points raised in programme.

This girl was killed by father and uncles and buried in a suitcase. It was "celebrated" by the men in the family.

Family honour said to me more important than life as without honour, nobody will want to marry their daughter.

Both shocking police work then excellent determined work to bring these kunts tojutice via extradition from Iraq-the first ever

Some cultures treat women very badly and they say it is out of love and respect. Where is the love and respect in killing a daughter because she likes a boy you don't like?

The world we live in eh!

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

I find it hard to understand. Seems to be a cultural phenomenon primarily in Islamic countries around the Mediterranean and middle east into the Indian subcontinent where also practiced by some HIndu castes. Seems to have occurred in christian countries in the same areas until 19th century. I have heard of it in Latin America from my former Colombian researcher. Seems to be in macho cultures amplified by some interpretations of islam and other religious extremes. Just a complete anathema to my thinking.

It is Paul to any normal human being. These vicious ,soulless, people are not normal.

Religion has a part to play as it corrodes the brain .

This girl suffered and her family caused it,celebrated it then tried to deny it.

Without a doubt ,these should have had capital punishment -my opinion.

I really don't agree with capital punishment, but this may be an exception. I've just dropped my daughter off to work. I can't imagine how. Even if she took up with a Trump supporting Bluebird, I would still love her. As I know you do with yours.

I was never a full on hang em chap but now with more certain ways of avoiding micarriages and seeing the state of the world I can see the justification for capital punishment. Not for all cases naturally but in these cases,a civilised society is not one that releases these creatures EVER.

As for the legal people who defend them and attempt to mitigate or free them then you may now see my utter contempt for that profession.

These are the same people that gang rape and kill innocent young women.
They have absolutely no respect for the female of the species at all.

There are valid arguments for capital punishment, murder that has many witnesses, video evidence etc, terrorism and multiple murderers.
Only recently a multiple murderer was jailed and immediately killed 2 inmates, because "he wanted to".

Only the most myopic can argue that within certain ethnic communities there is not a culture amongst the males that white girl are trash and not worthy of respect.

Sweden ha seen a huge rise in rape by men of Somali origin.

It's a real problem.

15 years ago my sister in law was selling here house in Croydon and a Pakistani male made an appointment to view. When he realised the house was hers he wouldnt discuss it any further unless "her man" was present.

He was fooked off quick.

So what about the culture amongst white males that Asian girls are trash and not worthy of respect?

Someone once said on here about an Asian female MP “she’s an overweight, overblown kid out of her depth no doubt in her position as she is “of colour” she ain’t there out of talent”

Just a bit of balance Wiggy, there’s plenty of white people out there that are beastly to Asians.

I also have no doubt that you follow the chap I replied to on twitter and you have seen the multitude of racist tweets he has made disguised as concern about his country.

One of my pet hates is hypocrites.

It's a matter of concern Paul for those countries Ive mentioned.

We have our own issues ,eg our appalling drinking culture that see our men and women debasing themselves that badly, they know not wtf is or has happened. Most of our city centres, indeed small town and villages, are filled with these people unable to enjoy life without getting hammered. Sometimes,I wish every pub would close.

We have a problem in the way our families shun the care for our elderly relatives-not all ,of course, but old people are the least respected in this country than anywhere else in Europe,I would contend.

All in all,as a species,it makes one wonder if we have progressed or regressed.

Unfortunately it’s down to a clash of cultures. We view this from a Western Liberal view point and it clashes with our beliefs. If you take the Indian class system it is probably the least discussed form of apartheid or discriminatory beliefs you could imagine. To our values it is abhorrent....but still practiced to an extent here in the UK. It is however based on hundreds if not thousand years of Indian culture.
Islam is dominated by male culture and religious beliefs. I had personal views regarding this, but based on living in the more non tourist places of the Middle East it highlighted and value of the family, and the family revolves around the women. Sons were loved, daughters were revered.
I’m basing my views on personal experience having lived in these countries and not watching an episode of the programme th OP referred to. I am not defending arranged marriage etc. I am however not convinced that integration and education is after all these years taking place in our country if ideals such as these still shock.

Luther.

It is not as clear cut a you comment, with respect.

The Quran and indeed the Bible clearly makes women to be subervient to the man. Most secular countries like our have moved on;many Islam countries have not.

My views on the programme remain .Maybe you should also have watched the associated programme which featured the actual footage of the unfortunate girl before being slaughtered and the sad figure of her partner before he took his home life.

Sorry L could I clarify, are you saying integration in this country means accepting for instance that ‘our’ value of sexual equality should be put aside as an overriding right of our culture?

Integration is surely not possible if you have 2 diametrically opposed human rights? For example when religious / cultural beliefs clash with equal treatment of women and men.
