Swansea City win again at home but frailties exposed 21st Jan 2026 08:00
The Swans made hard work of this win at times despite the scoreline. There won’t be too many fans in the crowd last night confident this was an easy win. Even when Zān Vipotnik headed home number three. 3

I watched Real Sociedad v Barcelona the other night , Barca were Barca ,tip ,tapping about at the back , goal kicks and free kicks played sideways and back time and again , Sociedad on the other hand varied goal kicks and free kicks played quickly through the pitch and pressed Barca relentlessly , forcing mistakes and turnovers time and again
The result ……..Sociedad won 2-1 and were worthy winners , yes Barca had plenty of possession and chances but Sociedad did a job on them ,because they set up from the start to get in their faces and go at them , knowing that Barca only ever play one way ,slow build up,trying to pass the opposition out of the game and walk the ball in to the net

Last night for periods of the first half we put ourselves under pressure messing about at the back and gave Blackburn a goal their play couldn’t create or deserve
Vigaroux has to stop the faffing about with goal kicks and the silly passes to players just outside our box , it’s just inviting pressure for no reason costing us numerous points
Just play the game simply no need to overplay and over pass ,,we look better when we do

Great article again and a spot on assessment, our self discipline/concentration continues to be an issue for this team, they find it to easy to switch off in games.

This is spot on.

It was the same under Martin and Williams.

Get the forward quickly without all the mucking about among the defenders. We've conceded too many goals by making mistakes doing it.

In fairness to Matos he didn't sugarcoat anything in his post match debrief.

These players (and players in general) have spent years of their careers being coached in how to play a certain way, and it's not as simple as stopping them doing it by clicking your fingers. He'll probably have been just as annoyed by them slipping into bad habits as we were.

He's not going to change his entire starting midfield during a game because he was pleased with them. Wouldn't bet against Fulton starting again on Saturday because he seemed to "get" what Matos wants to do far quicker than most. As indeed he did for Sheehan too.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Think most of us baulk at the giving away of possession easily and needlessly even more so in our own 1/3 of the pitch, with a bit more care and attention to our play we can get the ball quickly under control to get the ball forward, safely, quickly and effectively. Things have changed significantly since Matos arrival, more chances being made but players instints and bad habits are hard to refine, at times, players trying too hard, often rushing things, making mistakes, things that good coaching can help with, hopefully.
