The Police sadly these days are mainly complicit in allowing low life to abuse/insult them before they are put before the courts where they show no fear whatsoever as to what "punishment" is meted out.
Senior officers ,Successive governments ,including supposedly right wing police supporting Tories ,social workers,probation service and the various human rights quangos have seen the Police on the street seen as jokes and not worthy of any respect at all,not that scum would ever respect anything.

However, as the programme suggested, the British Police, particularly the Met, had acquired a sort of mythical status, which they themselves perpetuated. The Police are damned if they do or don't.
If you have a son,say,that smashes someone ,you'd want to defend him and make sure he had his rights,fed properly,given rest,and not made to feel harrassed or intimidated. You d also want to real force to effect his arrest.Anything at all remotely breaching PACE you d want to see him get off.
If your son has had his skull fractured and was on life support ,you really would not be that bothered as to how the perp was apprehended.
Massive,stinking hypocrisy and I feel me and forums are facing the end after 12 years or more.
