| Books you have read....and read again thread on 23:30 - Mar 8 with 1287 views | Groo | The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings a few times. Decided recently to read The Passage again. Never read all 3 books in the series as the follow up book, The Twelve, I didn't like the ending. After watching the abortion they made of a TV series (should have been made by HBO or the like) I read up on the last book and the consensus was the last book righted the wrongs of the second. So will buy the third and re-read the whole series. The first one was a great read for me. | |

Also the Zulu Wars...anything of the colonial times really...not in a jingoistic sense...but it's sense of a time and a place.

If you have not read it I would recommend 'The Washing of the Spears'. Published a number of years ago but still available.

I’d say the first one, Harris’s Covenant. You’ll be hooked in and unable to put it down.

I've read the Hobbit/LOTR twice but I couldn't get on with the Silmarillion. The advantage of having a kindle is I can keep all the books and not use up all the space so all of them will be read again at some point. So that'll be Simon Scarrows books about Rome, the "Eagles" series, Gordon Doherty,, AA Haviaras, there'll be Mary Beards book SPQR which I'll be starting again soon, maybe once I've finished the "Whale road chronicles" by Tim Hodkinson. I've discovered that although I love history I'm not so great at reading entirely factual books yet I can sit here all day and watch factual history on tv. Lucy Worsley, Susannah Lipscomb, Bettany Hughes, Kate Williams, Dan Snow.
