Swansea s coaches are good and came bring out the best in younsters. Whittaker, Cullen, Garrick Al Hamadi cannot rest on their laurels.

It is a cash offer before the play comes out of contract in a week or two. This gives Millwall the chance to get some extra money above the statuatory compensation payment they will be due for his development. It also tells the player Swansea have a plan for him. Swansea can pay more than Millwall in wages. If he goes to Arsenal he could get lost in all that competetion and never actually play.

Sadly too many young players see a big club has come in for them and it's enf of story for us smaller clubs. Some of these kids then go on to moan they never get a chance.

Kyle Joseph put his faith in Swansea and was wanted by Spurs and Glasgow Rangers.

If Rangers come in as expected they have to pay substantially less in training compensation as a Scottish club - which may well put us back in the box seats with our current offer.

A lot of money for a young striker in a club full of young strikers. Can't play them all at once, and not many will want to slum it in the u23s.

We paid twice as much for a 19 yr old McBurnie. I'm actually encouraged that we're starting to look down that path again.

Good point. Is the only reason being they are "cheap". If so,just where has the money really gone and /or 2,why not bring in players ready to go from day 1 not like Whittaker who was/is nowhere near "ready". Rolling in the deep ,more like.

McBurnie was vastly more experienced having already played senior football at Bradford and Chester. And our income was £100m higher than it is now, easier to find six figure fees for players who may or may not make it. We've just spent more than a McBurnie on a 19 year old. If we get both which one is going to be the Oli and which the Botti Biabi?

I can see this lad, if he comes that is as a real u23 player and not bothering the first team squad this coming season. Cullen I’m certain will stay alongside whoever else comes in, Whittaker Al Hamadi could maybe see a loan or two, with Andre gone this Pirol thing won’t go away. Everyone I’m sure would prefer Henry. But at least we are putting things together I suppose. From the figures being mentioned we all know players are exiting for sure.

Any signings we make will be a gamble, and as we aren't really in the market for many seven figure acquisitions we have to try and identify potential instead. Given the sums received from the sale of the likes of James and McBurnie it's a policy that's paid off well enough in the past to more than cover the expense of the flops. What we need now is a manager prepared to develop the youngsters already at the club rather than borrowing them from elsewhere.

I'm sure Cooper would prefer Henry, as then we'd finally have the targetman his style requires and we can drop the pretence of football entirely. The club meanwhile appear to be carrying on as if they're not expecting him to be here next season.

There appears to be a gap between what Cooper wants to play Cooperball and what our recruitment team, which is presumably supported by Winter, wants. Something has to give soon.

| Swansea City digging deep to find the best UK talent - Abdul Abdulmalik on 23:46 - Jun 16 with 503 views | AndyCole | Cooperball is contemporary, pragmatic, winning football. As per consistently high achieving results and performances over the last two seasons. It's truly amusing how some folk are still unable to see beyond Monkball, caught in some tortuous loop of yesteryear. Those that are stuck in this time warp need to get a grip, it's embarrassing for them I'm sure. Best they let go and grapple as best they can with modern-day ways. Some are sadly fixated with expecting rigid formations, and a striker to lump balls into. That is so not the way of contemporary, innovative, successful managers. Some of our luddites need to reach out, do some proper research and step up before it's way too late. | |
