| Downes 21:32 - Dec 12 with 2174 views | builthjack | Suspended for the next game ( 5 bookings, although yesterdays was a diabolical decision from the ref). When he comes back, I would stick Grimes on the bench and get Downes in front of a back 4. He passes forward !!!!!!!!! | |

| Downes on 07:30 - Dec 13 with 1590 views | felixstowe_jack | Time to play a proper back four with full backs and centre halfs in their correct positions. Then Grimes and Downes can play in their proper midfield positions. Will Martin ever learn or is he just inept or too stubborn | |

I've come to think he's a bit of both actually. He's inept as he keeps putting square pegs in round holes long after most of us can see it's not working and stubborn because he keeps on doing it. He can't admit he's wrong which makes OHL right about him being arrogant. He's had some time, he should have learned and made the necessary changes for the good of the team. Some of our players had improved but now they're going backwards again, Manning, Grimes. I'm still hopeful he can get it right but we need the January window to see who we bring in. On the OP, Downes was one of the few bright spots from Saturday, he kept trying to drive forward, kept going past the oppo, shame he had very little help.

Saturday was the first time I've started to get doubts regarding Grimes. He has been out of form since signing contract and could do with a rest in my opinion.

A cynic might say that he doesn't care now he's signed an improved contract. There's been plenty of players whose form goes bad after a new deal. I think he wanted to leave but when nobody would pay what we wanted he was stuck so he made the effort here. I don't know how 'improved' his contract is but now it's signed and sealed it's back to normal.

perchy agrees with much what Winston says, as he does you. From beyond the grave Downes is by far our best all round player and Grimes holds us back. It's why I'm not a Russ fan.

Make no mistake. Grimes has been rumbled and we will struggle to offload him never min sell. He is weak in mind and body,a shocking deliverer of a dead ball, inaccurate passer and unbelievably slow. That Downes has been subbed for the likes of Smith to come on and Grimes to stay on shows how dumb Martin is. Be afraid when other clubs see his frustration and he looks for a move. Martin is and will slowly destroy him . Writing is on the wall.

| Downes on 12:23 - Dec 13 with 1453 views | Flynnidine_Zidownes | We are so easy to defend against for the most part, playing simple passes into safe areas, but we looked the most threatening in the first half when Downes dribbled the ball forward into midfield. When we do that it causes the opposition a problem because they have to move out of their areas and it pulls one of their midfielders out. We didn’t do it at all second half. We need a player to carry the ball at them and he seems to be the only one who wants to do it. | | | |

Downes is smooth and skilful and the team should be built around the lad.He is a captain . He was the only one moving forwards and it's deeply upsetting to see him wasted. A tremendous lad

Don’t think he is suspended as we’ve passed the 19 match point just not sure what the next suspension point is, might be 10 yellows by week 32 so believe he is fine.

. Oh dear, clearly still 'Missing something' as previously, famously self confessed. 'Missing everything' is far more apt nowadays. Clueless. Downes plays so deep, whether in CM or as CB, the cleverer managers discount his presence. He's almost anonymous. Not what we want from a CM. Cooperball did a number on Martinball by nullifying our talisman and heartbeat, Grimes. Grimesy had nowhere to turn, totally marked out of the game. As such Martin got beasted by a master tactician, negating our foothold, momentum and pulse. Cooper knew he didn't need to bother with Downes, hence left him to his devices, going nowhere. He allowed him to drift fwd, with no purpose. Had Downes played in Grimesy's space we would have been utterly hammered, and with zero go-fwd, even less chances than we were able to conjure with Grimes single handedly doing his level best to counter Cooperball's masterful tactics. Stick to the non-football forum. . . . .

He doesn't even have the decency to be shite. He's very capable if all you want him to do is pass it backwards, or at the most 20-30 yards forwards. His stats are amazing which is why you can see nonentities like Cooper or stats obsessed types like RM falling in love with him. Watch him play with neither of those mindsets and the only conclusion you can draw is "Is that it"? You can see why nobody else showed any serious interest even though he was available on a free. Sadly we've been bluffed into offering him a new, no doubt improved, contract.

| Downes on 22:20 - Dec 16 with 1044 views | AndyCole | . The unthinking non-football types ought to take a peek at some of the Swans Analytics analysis from the weekend's demolition by Cooperball. Cooperball nullified Grimesy, he had no options whatsoever. It's testament to his inert, deep thinking footballing brain, underlying prowess, and superior footballing skills that he managed to conjure anything from such a neutered position. Without doubt, the twps that still fail to see this, get a grip. Focus on proper, meaningful football stuff instead of point scoring on a fans forum. This is a football forum, after all. . . . . | |

. That's not so surprising. And yet previously a moderator here. Unthinkable. A sub-standard poster with not so hidden agendas. One dimensional, in so many ways. Nailed on for Sheeple of the year. Certainly gets my vote for that award. Has no clue about football, and most definitely never kicked a ball. Has all the attributes of a classic lardy couch potato, supping on cheapskate home brew. What goes around, comes around. As they say. . .
