| BBC funding 13:57 - Jan 16 with 4122 views | JACKMANANDBOY | I must admit I do not watch much BBC, standards have dropped and news and current affairs is full of opinion rather than journalism. I find the World Service on Radio to be pretty good, otherwise Netflix, Amazon, C4 Player and Sky give me more than enough choice for the hour or so I watch TV each day. Amazon's production budget is astronomical by comparison, the likes of SKY have a much bigger budget for top class sport, chasing old ladies for £150 quid seems futile in comparison. The BBC audience is skewed to the over 50s which is unsustainable. Forcing the organisation to change is probably the right decision and should have happened 15 years ago. https://news.sky.com/story/cul [Post edited 16 Jan 2022 14:12]

On BBC we watch Only Connect, Death in Paradise....I can't actually think of much else but we watch a fair bit on Netflix and Amazon Prime, the rest is Sky sports/BT sport.

Maybe it really appeals to people who hate funding a bloated, unaccountable entity that spends vast sums on rubbish? That same statement could apply to the House of Commons, the Senedd and the House of Lords mind!

I don’t agree, Catt. I think it’s fantastic value. It does need reform and certainly younger folks are getting their info in different ways. They could definitely change how it’s funded and I’ve no problem with that. I worry from a news point of view we'll end up down the US route where you choose your news. That’s not good.

So Johnson wants a global Britain, appointed his mates to run the BBC, but now wants revenge because they have done their job for once and reported him as the liar he is. I think the BBC was absolutely dreadful in both the Scottish Indy ref and the Brexit ref, but the timing of this is ONLY about taking the heat off fatty Johnson. We already are choosing our news. I wouldn't watch the BBC as I know them to... a) have an agenda & b) tell lies and choose not to report on issues if the issue becoming public knowledge would harm their agenda. Censorship by omission. The BBC is as biased as Fox News or CNN, that much has been spelled out to everybody over the last 10 years. They have worn their bias like a badge of honour. Many of their journalists have openly stated that they believe it is their job to act like an 'Opposition' following the collapse of the Labour Party.

The "President" of the United States has dementia. They ran stories about Trump's mental fitness for office every day for a sustained period. They took part in a campaign of hate against Trump. Where is the equal treatment? Where are the journalists who want to hold Biden and the crooks around him to account? I could fill this page with scandalous stories they could be running against Biden, fill many pages.

I may well be wrong but I don’t recall a vast amount of coverage on the Beeb of the US election, mainky Trump sound bites as firstly, he was the president and secondly he did/does love an ‘out there statement.’ Why would BBC journalists be focused on investigative journalism in another country? I don’t see that as their roll. Any other stories?

Surely as the national broadcaster that brings us news from around the world their roll is to report the news as fairly and unbiased as is possible from everywhere they send reporters. Investigate and report, it's their job. Whenever I saw a John Sopel report from the USA he certainly seemed not to like Trump. Not that I blame him mind. It's just shame the alternative to Trump was equally as poor. Very much like the Corbyn/Bojo choice we had here. There were no winners besides the politicians.

But they’ll always punch at those in power, Catt. That’s one of the reasons that the Tory’s have the hump now. They’ve had the best part of 12 years being challenged on policy and competency. That’s the job. They’ve had a go at channel 4, tried to fix the OfCOM job and have now circled back to the BBC. The organisation is not perfect but is consistently proved the most trusted news source in the UK. I fear it’s demise is another step to ‘do your own research’.

Well they are not punching at Biden, so that's bull. ...When the Tories were out of office in the New Labour years I don't recall the BBC feeling obligated to "be the opposition". They loved Blair, still do. Here's one for you Gwyn... The 'Historian' (she is not a Historian in any sense of the word, but there we are) Mary Beard interviewed Hillay Clinton on 'Inside Culrure' recently. Mary Beard did not challenge Hillary on her claims in 2016 that the election was stolen from her.... She did not challenge her on the Russia hoax that Clinton and her people was behind... She did not even bring up Bill Clinton's long standing association with Jeffrey Epstein.... Is that journalism to you Gwyn? It may be, you might be so myopic that you can't comprehend how different that interview would have been if it was with Trump...the rest of us though have woken up.

Biden is in the middle of trying to change the senate rules so he can force through voting reforms before the mid-terms and has had had his vaccine mandates overturned by the courts because they were beyond his jurisdiction. Imagine the headlines if that was Trump. The BBC have virtually ignored this....why?

Mary Beard conducted a glowing 'bring back Hilary' ad on the BBC, paid for by us, and called it an 'interview'. People who pay the licence fee, who pay Mary's wages, expect her to ask Clinton some questions regarding some of our concerns. This is bias Gwyn. The bias is in your face, clear for all to see. If the BBC are prepared to lie to us, and conduct propaganda campaigns for one American political party over the other....what else are they not reporting / lying about. The Presidency of the United States is as big as it gets Gwyn. How about 'journalists' whose wages we pay, instead of making assertions that there was no evidence of election fraud in the US presidential elections 2020 (impossible, they claim...despite running those same stories in the opposite direction in 2016 - Despite the current corrupt regime trying to permanently change the rules of US elections in an unconstitutional manner right now)...how about they actually get their arses over there and investigate the claims being made, interview people who have sworn affidavits, interview politicians involved in the Audits, and then demand answers from Democrat politicians, pressure groups, Mark Zuckerberg etc.? ...and then we could all make our own minds up based on the evidence presented before us and how convincing the response was. Did you know that in Georgia there is video evidence of young people with backpacks dropping off thousands of ballots in the 'absentee ballot boxes' in the early hours of the morning. Can you imagine what the BBC would have done with that when the Democrats were accusing Trump of stealng the 2016 election? The average Brit does not know these things because they are not reported on. https://www.christianitydaily. This story is kind of relevant right now don't you agree? The BBC will only be running stories that claim Republicans are planning to "steal" elections by insisting that only American citizens vote and only vote once, having to provide ID for example. You know it, I know it, we all know it. The BBC has lost all credibility, they have done it to themselves.
