Cooper v Martin v next season 14:43 - May 1 with 1626 viewsguthrieintherain

9.2 on aggregate this season.

Cooper win %55
Martin win %37.

We have conceded a huge amount of goals recently 2nd half

Fulham 4
Reading 3
Bournemouth 3
Forest 4.

None of them teams are world beaters and we should at least be competitive against them.

Chuck in a few other games.

Stoke home and away conceded 3 each game.
Sheff Utd 4
Preston wiped the floor the floor with us up there.

These are scary scores and Martin has done nothing to date in his managerial career.

His in game management is non existent.
Yet he has a massive ego why?

Time for a change I think he is not upto the job hopefully the Watford rumours are true.

Coopers win % is actually higher than that.

61.1% (62.5% including cups)

Martin’s is also lower than that.

35.5% (36% including cups)

Fair enough but you get my drift.

But my point is Cooper got hammered on here.
Martin has had an easier ride.

Cooperball was boring but he knew how to grind out results Martin thinks he is Pep but the results performances don't back him up.

Yes I want us to play expansive football.
With wingers preferably but not a must.

But this really can't go on it's not good enough.

Yeah I absolutely agree.

Martin can do anything he likes without any scrutiny. That’s why there is a “process”, “project” and “vision” wall between him and criticism.

It’s all about being judged in the future and not the now, except the now never comes. MK Dons will testify to that.

The now came when he left and a new manager could come in and change it.

Like what?

Martin has been given everything. £5m and a host of free and loan signings.

The only players that we lost that would get into this side were Ayew, Guehi (who was always going back) and Roberts.

Would you swap those 3 for Piroe, Obafemi, Downes, Pato, Ntcham, Christie and Fisher. Zero chance.

What Martin has at his disposal is an improvement collectively than what we lost.

I was glad when Cooper went despite 2 play off finishes.
And the fact he is doing well at Forest makes no difference to.me.
The football was tedious the performance at Wembley was the final straw.

But to defend Martin after them 2 seasons would be unfair.

For me it's not about being proved right or wrong I care not a jot.

Just want the club to move forward.

We are going backwards and Martin won't adapt.

All football fans felt bored during the two pandemic years, wasn’t just a product of Steve Cooper. Cooper did what he was employed to do which was get points, win football matches and get the best out of the side he had - he did his bit and continued to do so.

If someone gave me the option of less possession, less passing at the back and an extra 20 points - I’d take it in a heartbeat.

I enjoyed watching football during the pandemic was something to look forward too.
PL mostly and Swans TV

I didn't like our style of football though even if we did win more than we lost.

So just for clarity did not get bored with football full stop.
I watch loads of it always have.

But found it difficult to warm to our style of play.
Still watched just about every game though and was chuffed when we won and disappointed when we lost.

If Brendan, Martinez or Laudrup were managing us I would not have found our football dull.

So nothing to with the pandemic for me personally that is.

I know Man City and Liverpool fans who found watching their games dull. If that’s the case for them then times that by 10 for Swansea.

It was absolutely a product of the times with empty and soulless grounds.

You may not have liked the style of play too of course, but that style is better than what Swansea fans have seen in the vast majority of our history.

I’ve been supporting since the mid 90’s, so almost 30 years - and barring a period of about 6 seasons (X2 Brendan, X1.5 Laudrup and X3 Martinez)… I would rank Coopers two seasons as among the better of them.

I been watching since the mid 70s so seen loads of ups and downs.

Not spoilt as I have seen good bad and indifferent.

Each to there own though but neither Cooper or Martin on reflection are right for us.

That's my opinion that's all.

I agree 100%

Around 73/74, I started watching us Harry Greg was manager then Harry Griff took over, Herbie Will's was my player of that time, been to many to list since that time, countless up's and downs of course, some fabulous times were experienced.

i haven't watched us live [at the liberty] or anywhere else for that matter, I will return at some point though.

Well I’ve watched it since the days of Ron Burgess and this season has been dire as any. When we were truly crap,we knew it,we had crap players. We are different League now and not long ago played with pride at they op table.

We have been reduced to accepting 4-1 becoming 4-4 3-0 to 3-3 and a 5-1 thrashing .

People,we have to be brave or at least our owners have to.

Why do imagine any of us are accepting of it ?
Sorry to bring this up again, but had you been at any of the three games, you would have seen 2,000 fans at each away game and around 18,000 at Swansea who were absolutely fuming, screaming or expressing their anger at the way we threw a lead in two of the games, or in the case of yesterday at such an awful performance and scoreline.
Clearly no Swans fan can be accepting of these things.
However, the various posts from you today could be seen as you taking the opportunity to stick the boot in.
Shame as your posts over the last couple of weeks have been more rational and on point

18000 that's a big over estimate.

Yes the crowd may have been announced as that but the empty seats suggest otherwise mate.

I think we are doing the Cardiff trick and counting season ticket holders regardless of whether they attended or not.

I could name many seasons from the late seventies that I have attended and can remember. No way were the seasons between us sliding back down the league in the eighties better than this season. The dirge served up when silver shield took over on the cheap and which started our clubs demise after 1997. How anyone can say those seasons were better than this one again is madness.

We have seen the best and worst of Martins first season. And if beating Cardiff away 4-0 and home 3-0 isn’t memorable ? Then what is ? Yes there have been some desperate games but no more than quality games. Doing the double on WBA and Bristol City seems forgotten as well as doing the same over Coventry.

Worst season or as bad as any season ! I think not.

Yes agree Keith.

But in terms of quality and heavy defeats.
I would say the worse since League 2.

We were better than this under Jacket Martinez and Sousa.

Obafemi and Piroe were already done deals before Martin came in.

Downes was 1.5, Fisher 400k, Ogbeta 300k ( and Martin didn’t want him )
The Christie and Wolf loans don’t add up to five million.

Would you agree that it's the worse for over 15 years though.

7 seasons in the PL
6th season in the Championship.

Martinez 8th
Sousa 7th
Rogers 3rd won play offs
Potter 10th
Cooper 6th and 4th.
League 1 Martinez won the league
Martinez finished 7th.
Jacket won promotion from League 2
Took us to a play off final won the Johnsons paint or whatever it's called.

Worse manager since 2005 bar Bob Bradley maybe.

I remember those days but did we have the likes of Piroe,Naughton,Obafemi, Downes,Grimes,Pato,Natchm,Wolf,
we had a player in Williams who played a fair part in the PL and Champions league last season under Klopp..so we have more quality so expectations should be higher.
I havent forgotten rainy Tuesday nights at the Vetch watching play amateurs like Spencer Works..
This time was different to the fall in the 80s..we had 7 years in the top flight received much monies we supposedly built a legacy with the academy and Fairwood.
