Homosexuality is illegal in Senegal and carries a 5 year prison sentence.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Indeed and his perceived supporting of that cause could pose problems for his family back in Senegal

Banned?

In that BBC link his club Watford reiterated their commitment to diversity. Wouldn’t that include the tolerance to encompass diversity of opinion? If it doesn’t then what are you really left with? The authoritarian impulse wrapped in a honeyed coating.

If freedom means anything it surely has to include the right to simply say no thank you.

An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it.

For me that’s a very fair point, and well put across. I see peoples point on the upset he has caused but your point is extremely valid.

It is within living memory for some people in this country that war heroes like Alan Turing were convicted for being gay and forced to grow tits.

But Loh, the woke crowd don't get free speech! Having a personal opinion is frowned upon, nay spat upon, if t doesn't match up with their opinion.

We saw how much tolerance there was for other opinions by a self professed woke person on here who called people scum and pussy because of the political party they voted for/backed.

Cancel culture is here to stay, I reckon. Anybody who fights against it is doomed to be cancelled, spat upon and verbally abused, all in the name of tolerance!

Fantastic post.

I have always said forced gestures are useless if they are enforced. People should be able to do and think what they like. Doesn't mean you have to agree with them.

SKY forced their presenters to wear the BLM badge even when people raised their now obviously legitimate concerns over the organisation.

Over here, Israel Folau was dropped from the Australian rugby team because as a devout Christian he didn't agree with gay marriage.

I always said that it was absolutely the wrong thing to do. He is entitled to his view and shouldn't be punished for it.

Ironically, the only discrimination in that instance was from Rugby Australia because they stopped him playing for his country. He wasn't stopping anyone being gay, just said he disagreed with it.

If someone came up to me and said they don't agree with hetrosexual relationships, I would say ''ok''.

Indeed it is.
I have previously stated that for many homosexuality is a "sin". It is abhorent to many world wide .

We can start to treat each other with prejudice if we understand this and keep our individual preferences to ourselves.

That's the problem with free speech though, OHL. If we all kept our opinions to ourselves then sites like this wouldn't exist.

Besides, it's only through people speaking out that we get to know what they are like. Being gay or following a religion doesn't offend me BUT some of the posts on here apparently supporting Russia's invasion of Ukraine, they do offend.

PS, I find Tony Blair to have an offensive face too.

Cat
morning matey

We do not have "free speech",by definition.

Everyone cannot express publically that which they feel. It's why we have laws to prevent hate speech etc. Up to now, one's private thoughts remain inside our head. People often spout things they do not mean but for public consumption and race /gender issues are prime targets for this rank hypocrisy. Right now,it is off the scale.

Ive posted regrading a few matters ,which to me are not offensive in any way but it led to a ban which I am still seething about, frankly. People cannot go around and say what they think;they might say they do but they do not. These days, that which you post on a public forum can come back to slaughter you.

I see many comments on here that I find offensive but that is MY interpretation on what I see.Others will have a different perspective. It's that simple.

I know I am on very thin ice on this site and I try to post matters I think won't be seen as offensive but we all have different standpoints.

There is now way we can discuss/debate ALL matters on here. Once we get that into our skulls ,we 'll be ok.

I’m very woke (whatever that means) but if this chap doesn’t want to wear something supporting something which he doesn’t believe, he should have the right to do it without feeling pressured, similar to those who don’t want to wear the poppy.

Nothing to see here.

Never really seen anyone defining what woke is. Seems to be a general term of abuse for people who just want all folk to be treated decently.

I would not want to wear anything at all that related to social of political matters if I was a player. I would not wear a poppy, BLM logo or a rainbow lace or any other movement badge as part of a team ethic. Why should I have to conform or take the consequences like Lyle Taylor, Gueye and McClean?

"You have to explain yourself" say the self appointed pressure groups. "Get lost" I say to them.

This does not mean I would not wear any such badge in general social life if I felt it appropriate.

Ive given up as regards all branding individuals.
I won't be called working class by anyone without them getting a ear bashing.Same applies of they use the middle class pejorative.I don't like being called a Taff either.

I'm past it,I know

Going off slightly on a tangent I see now Police are offering direct entry to CID if you have a degree. No experience whatsoever yet charged with investigating criminal offences because, with a degree, they are branded smarter.

I had two probationers on my section once, both with a degree, both private school ,both "posh". This was Admiral St,L8 ,not exactly a place for lambs on the streets.

I had them both binned as their probationary period ended as neither would make it as a police officer .This was backed by area commander without question.

Two of the biggest ,most obnoxious, arrogant ,clueless naive chaps imaginable. Neither could handle shift work either and the challenges that in itself brings.

It’s easy to have the cognitive intelligence to do any job.
The issue away from that is first hand experience.

John will most certainly agree with me when he gets an MG file especially when it hits number 6.

No degree will help anyone here, just 100% experience.

But they don't plod beats Jon.This is the point.
They really don't have beats as we knew them.

It was an experience to foot patrol on your own especially on nights with the nearest vehicle back up 20 minutes away. You had to know how to handle potentially life threatening situations. I was good with my mouth and got few hammerings. I have been bladed though and I sh't myself -afterwards.
The best coppers were those who hardly got wet as they knew where every brew speck was .It was at these spots that information was gained about just about everyone in the vicinity.
It was also a case of finding somewhere to get your head down when you got a car and be able to respond at a moments notice.

Policing is all about knowing people ,assessing people and assuming nothing.

Right now,it is the last job I would do and it is not just politicians I blame but the Police service itself, which bears only lip service to a public that supports them overwhelmingly, but is let down at the point of service all too often.
