So sad, such a lovely bloke, he came to a rugby training seminar I went to as a kid, he was fantastic with us.
RIP Phil
Oh no.
Met him and Ray Gravel in a small pub in Ferryside with my mum and dad, I was wearing my Neath kit and him and Ray started changing ‘Neath, Neath, Neath’. They came over and had a really nice chat with us, I was only about 10 and couldn’t believe these two legends were speaking to us.
Both of them were brilliant

One of those news headlines that wrenches your gut. Part of the history that made being Welsh that little bit better when the world was putting us down.

Same here, as someone else put it, a legend among the legends. A reminder of a better time when top sportsmen did it for the love of the game and didn't demand everything yet when it came to entertainment, gave everything.
RIP Benny.

Feels like I've lost a chunk of my childhood, genuinely sad news. As has been said, a legend amongst legends yet extremely accessible to fans and the public. I suppose he was the equivalent to a modern day Gareth Bale or David Beckham just for youngsters to understand his impact. I can't believe he only had 29 caps, I know there was a lot less international rugby back in the day but 29 caps, wow. Thanks again Benny.

"Look what these bastards have done to Wales. They've taken our coal, our water, our steel. They buy our homes and live in them for a fortnight every year. What have they given us? Absolutely nothing. We've been exploited, raped, controlled and punished by the English — and that's who you are playing this afternoon."
His pep talk before Wales played England in 1977 - genius

I bet he didn't mention that when he captained the Lions to NZ that summer
