FIFA Directive on Shirt Pulling at Corners 09:27 - Nov 23 with 1324 viewsJACKMANANDBOY

Could be interesting if the football authorities here adopt the same approach.

So no shirt pulling but you can wrestle a man to the floor?

Have never understood how shirt pulling and generally holding at corners is not penalised!

Probably because the award would be a penalty and it would be hard to decide how bad the infringement had to be for a penalty to be awarded. It's bad enough with handball imagine a brush of hands on a shirt against a slight pull.

On the Maguire incident I think they were both holding each other and it was the England defender on the floors leg that tripped them both up. Not giving a penalty for that was a fantastic decision I thought.

Wales first corner late in first half, ref warned Ramsey as he was bending over, then when the corner swung in, the Yank goalie put both hands, in his large bright gloves, on Ramsey's back and pushed him out the way.

With VAR now, Ramsey should have gone face down on the ground. Sad to say but that's where we are.

It is two 6s of one and a dozen of the other. Going on about inconsistencies in pointless. However if the referee warns you you had better take notice. No one likes being ignored or not taken seriously.

Better hope Ben C doesn't get any game time, I cringe everytime we defend a corner.

Same old England.

I thought the young Qatari ref in Wales v USA game was excellent. He did not get intimidated by Pulisic & some of their players constantly whining in his ear for clear fouls & yellow carded players that deserved it

I have to say that is the most disgraceful comment I have read from a Swans fan since the clique decided to ritually abuse Jazz Richards.

Oh well, you must be very precious then, you might try watching him next time Swans are defending a corner then. A real old school defender who will need to amend his thought process if this directive continues. (and I hope it does).

Championship corners are often a bit of a ruck, Ben Cabango does nothing different to other players.

He's far more obvious than most.

He always seems to be fouled when we get corners and he goes up for the ball. Probably because the opposition realise how dangerous he can be on the air.

Its quite simple there are probably at least 4 or 5 penalty or free kick offences at every corner committed by the defending or attacking teams in every game played in this country every single week and has been for 20 years with nothing done about it.

Its quite staggering to watch half the defence holding the attacking teams players in full bear hugs or even headlocks at corners without so much as flicker of recrimination from referees who would be sending people off if these fouls were committed elsewhere on the pitch in open play

How on earth that this has been allowed to continue for year after year without action being taken I've no idea.

A raft of penalty awards in one weekend if the authorities decided to address the matter and I'd think that the wrestlefests that are corners these days would stop overnight.
