Obviously he’s still to review all his options, but I have a sneaking feeling that the delay in the secondhand car salesman opening his new showroom on the south coast, will come back to bite us big time. Our hope is that his ambition to be number 1, is greater than being a No 2, even if it’s at Spurs!

Morning. Have to say this business is both perplexing me and making me insouciant to it all. Yet again,we face a summer of uncertainty. Nothing rattles fans more. Our owners seem hapless and either it shows us to have great patience or apathy . I’m almost past words now suffice to say this was the reason they should have ousted Martin months prior as this was always going to be the outcome . Some know better apparently . As regards Davies,I can’t see him coming with our owners in situ as he seems an intelligent fella . I worry as to who might come in We are regressing at a rate of knots and it hurts

Depends on what he wants for his next move. Spurs is a safe job, no stresses and he is merely doing as is requested of him. At Swansea he would be the key figure with Watson and maybe a few names we have featured recently. Either way the Swans are progressing this and other avenues as quick as is possible. We can’t appoint anyone with Martin still the boss. June is a pretty dead month as much as people want immediacy.

Its also about ambition. He knows our reputation for enabling managers/coaches fulfill their potential. If he does turn us down, if an approach is made, in the future does he want to think what could have been.

I was thinking the same. Celtic may be the third club in the mix for him following reports about Celtic meeting Brendan at the weekend. I wonder what Martin, Cooper and Potter would say to Davies if Davies was doing his due dillegence on the club.

Jump at the chance. The club are are patient and you will have time, the Swansea job is the springboard to much more lucrative jobs further down the line. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

How is the delay the fault fault of the owners? We move before Southampton and we kiss compensation goodbye. It might even result in us paying compensation to Martin.

If the bulk of our transfer kitty here depends on who gets moved out, why would he take such a big risk ? If we are moving our best players out to bring in cheaper untested players at Championship level there is a very high probability that we are going to struggle whoever comes in. Looks like no ambition or poor strategy if we are to waste all the experience that the current squad has developed from the Martin era.

"If" is the correct word, we have no idea what our transfer kitty is, or where its coming from yet

You are right there are a lot of ‘ifs’ in there. Our recent history of decision making suggests that we are going to take the cheap option every time. We ended the season on a high with the making of a quality first eleven achieving way more than the sum of the parts. At the moment most of the speculation is pointing to all that work being undone and dismantled to get a few extra quid for RM. I am hoping for some positive news in the next week or 2, so that we can actually start looking forward to next season instead of expecting the worse and hoping for the best

A couple of decent seasons with us and he is made for life. Rodgers went from unemployed lower league manager to multimillionaire, trophy winner. Even Martin, who achieved little, will now be moving on to big money, big club and huge payout if he fails. If he has ambition he will choose us. If he wants to remain in the background then he was never the right man for the job.

Hang on, will we pay him as much to be boss as he'll get as a No 2 at Spurs? It may be as simple as that, he may feel another gaffers job will come along in another couple of years but right now he can bump his bank balance and protect his family's future?

It is a well established pathway to the Premier league and great wealth. If he lacks self confidence and wants to stay under Brendan's wing he should go to Celtic. Delay means self doubt. Yes or no, No maybe's accepted.

Or he may prefer the significantly higher salary that’s currently on offer elsewhere!

Money nearly always wins the day. He lacks experience though and whoever we appoint will be a gamble.

| Chris Davies quandary with Spurs and Swansea after his signature on 08:25 - Jun 14 with 1511 views | RichardO | Got to dip your toe into the managerial pool at sometime, when and what team would the question to ask. Do you carry on taking the money as a "second in command" Gerrard did well with his first appointment at Rangers but struggled since but still in the Premiership manger selection basket. Lampard struggling but did mentioned in Premiership terms. If Davies goes to the likes of Celtic, Rangers or even Tottenham the expectations would be extremely high and so would the pressures but money would be nice. Would he be better off to learn his management skills here, where mistakes will be expected but he will be given time. Given the age of the squad plenty of young players with potential to develop at Championship level and a number of good seasoned Pros who can help that development. We will inevitably lose some players if the price is right but hopefully not too many key players, wonder if the likes of Downes would come back if things don't go his way at West Ham, we have had players come back to us before. Davies might be able to attract players to the club given his contacts, most managers like to bring in some and given the circles he has worked in seems he may have a few quality players to build the squad further. Easy choice come to the Swans | | | |
