| WBA Charged with profit and sustainability breach 24/25 season 10:32 - Apr 13 with 3439 views | KeithHaynes | Under English Football League guidelines, any sporting sanction from the previous season must be applied in the following campaign, which would represent a severe blow to Albion’s hopes of survival with four games left. It is understood, however, that the Championship club are attempting to delay any punishment until the 2026-27 season. West Brom are 20th in the table after seven matches unbeaten under caretaker manager James Morrison, two points above Oxford United, who occupy the final relegation place. Leicester were deducted six points in February for breaching financial rules, failing in an appeal to reduce the sanction last week.

Hopefully both WBA & Leicester go down this year. There are going to be 3 decent teams coming down from the PL 2 from Forest, Spurs, West Ham, Leeds plus Burnley & Wolves. On a positive I expect the 2 promoted teams from the 3rd tier both to be relegated back to where they belong next season Tough division once again.

The pre tax loss is not relevant for PSR its the net loss after all calculations including costs outside PSR like buildings, maintenance, academy, women's team the list goes on.

We are close hence the Leo Walta payment being suspended until the summer window. I’m certain the way the club is being run that this delay fits in with PSR. Kieran Maguire has made no comment on any issues and I’m told that he is going to release something via the trust. Mind you Chelsea, billion quid losses over two years yet they still fall within PSR 🤷🏻♂️

No reason to think otherwise. Trust me Maguire would have been all over it, he has a very soft spot for the Swans.

That's the crux of the matter with WBA. They are claiming that the interest paid on loans made by the former owner should not count. The FA are saying that they must. The whole argument is about what is inside PSR and what is outside. The interesting thing would be for WBA to go into administration. That way any points penalty would be at the start of next season. That could save them this season. Either way, it needs to be sorted out.

A pyrric victory if they did that , Surely it would mean a bigger points deduction next season ??

Indeed it would. However I was just pointing out the absurdity of the rules and how they're applied. There are too many loopholes available to WBA.

I think what we have to rely on initially are the comments of Gorringe stating we had exceeded the previous seasons (24/25) income as a whole by December 2025. There’s been a number of financial interventions which we haven't or won’t see until next year. There has to be some incredible business coming in to make a difference over the coming years. I’ve heard some good things for next season which may come about in the summer, so fingers crossed. I’m certain it isn’t all doom and gloom.

Hopefully things will be improving, but I'm sure you agree that the marketing and comercial side has been abysmal.

This return reflects time under Kaplan and Levien in the main and stewardship of Andrew Coleman and Ken Gude frittering away money on silly projects. I’ll most certainly be more interested this time next year.
