The success of Ben Davies and before him Jo Allen, show how important it is to give home produced players a chance to progress to the first team.
This however hasn't happened at all this year and is one aspect of our set up that must be looked at.
Swansea used to have a great reputation for producing home developed talent.For all the talk of academies and youth development programmes we seem to have lost our way completely on this issue.
When one thinks of some of the foreign and poor quality players who have had opportunity after opportunity of playing in the first team in the last few years, something is seriously wrong in our overall thinking on this issue. |  |
