Pomegranates, delicious when red and juicy, a hit and miss buy. I was told by a supermarket shelf stacker that they lose their freshness very quickly, in fact a fair bit quicker than some other produce and in a way that affects quality in a rather more noticeable way. |  |

Damson: loads of taste. Puts mere plums in the shade.
Gooseberries, a beautiful tart fruit (oooh-err missus); make them into a crumble; or a sauce to go with Mackerel, cuts through the oil.
Pomegranates, these have grown on me over the years (no pun intended) I loves 'em I do.

Love Gooseberry tarts, don't get a chance in here though as rare to see any sold.
They do see gooseberries in supermarkets but they are usually not real gooseberries but Physalis a Peruvian fruit that has a common name of Cape Gooseberry.
A proper Gooseberry tart and Custard though.... or with Cornish icecream, another thing we can't get here :( | |

The tourist places are overpriced usually, there are 'local' brands, I remember there were maple festivals in some small towns too when I lived over that side.
Took me 3 days to drive from South Ontario to Saskatchewan when i moved. | |
