Who knows. It's still wrong to hurl abuse at a man just doing his job. Tell him why he's wrong yes, but do it properly, not with abuse.

| This chap doesn't seem very happy on 10:32 - Oct 10 with 1098 views | onehunglow | Even a cursory glance at this site shows he is absolutely justified to feel as he does. If you were English, just why would you travel to Wales and meet this sort of thing. It is shameful and the fact only 2 have replied to this OP says much. | |

| This chap doesn't seem very happy on 11:14 - Oct 10 with 1090 views | Joe_bradshaw | Interesting. He suggested that parts of Wales that are not in any form of local lockdown would be great places to visit and spend your money. Some people seem to be very keen to see the Welsh tourist industry fail. | |

Health provision in rural areas will not cope well with covid outbreaks. This one is not England vs Wales, it responsible vs irresponsible. Bloke is a fecking div.

He wasn’t wrong if he was just endorsing the info on the Welsh Government’s Visit Wales website. He says he was.

Its the usual mad nat bunch giving a false portrayal of the genuine friendly welcome from the bulk of the Welsh population to visitors. The ranters are an embarrassment to Wales ( again) I don't think that here can be a more inoffensive nor influential, knowledgeable travel expert and influencer than Simon Calder. Presumably not any more in persuading visitors to visit Wales for their holidays from such a nationally respected travel expert. [Post edited 11 Oct 2020 12:22]

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough. Thse who feel he was wrong should tell him why they feel that way without hurling abuse. He may not have been wrong according to official guidelines but many people disagree with the guidelines too. If Calder had been saying don't travel to Wales I'm sure he'd have gotten some abuse for that too.

| This chap doesn't seem very happy on 17:33 - Oct 11 with 766 views | onehunglow | Calder is a good journalist without an agenda. He is 100% right. Wale needs to see itself through the eye of others. Many see as as insular, lacking confidence, bitter and backward. Not my words btw. Nationalists do nothing at all for Wales profile apart from ruin it. | |

Most of Wales is in lockdown. You shouldnt be going. The aim is to prevent the virus spreading. We should all be doing our best to stop it by staying local. You and me included. I have the absolutely stupid rule that I cannot go 200 metres down the road because I will be going into Swansea from Neath Port Talbot but I can travel 20 miles to Blaengwynfi. We have a street down the road one side is in Swansea and the other NPT so they cant cross the road or the 2 houses next to each other 2 metres apart on different estates. One is in Swansea the other Neath Port Talbot. They go along the same road to get to the main road where one has to turn right and the other left.

| This chap doesn't seem very happy on 17:37 - Oct 12 with 630 views | FieryJack | Have you ever been to North Wales in the summer? Gogs outnumbered 10 to 1 by English. No wonder the locals get grumpy. I've been on the receiving end myself many years ago when I walked into a locals' pub in Trawsfynedd one afternoon. Very cool reception. Mind you, I had the same treatment in a pub full of Welsh-speaking farm workers in Llandeilo once 😂 None of it bothered me too much. They have every right to be touchy at being swamped. It's human nature. Good luck to them. I mean, just think of the place where you live, and how you'd react if, every summer, without fail, thousands of, say, Turks or Ukrainians or French rolled up for their holidays and took over all the hotels and pubs. Another thing: isn't a third of mid Wales full of affluent English exiles anyway? Maybe it was them giving Calder abuse because they didn't want a load of Brummie scuffers from their homeland turning up 🤔 | | | |
| This chap doesn't seem very happy on 18:42 - Oct 12 with 607 views | onehunglow | Fiery. My mate owns the campsite in the lake in Traws and he s quite happy there. He took over a dilapated old cottage and used local labour to transform it .It sees the village receiving moneys .The village cannot survive without visitors as is the same with north Wales villages so for every swamp there is a grateful local tradesman looking to dry it out. Its ok for those in secure jobs or have family wealth but you talk to the kids who rely on tourism .Abersoch would be poverty stricken without them, instead of the rather vibrant ,beautiful village it is. You cannot live on beautiful countryside alone.Speak to any kid in a rural village .t why they move to the City-as they do all over the world. | |
