I would prefer Whittaker on for Routledge when the substitution is made.

There has been some ominous silence since Coops has called Cabango out. It seemed a multi levelled dressing down clearly stating that not only did he fall short in this instance of the covid policy, but he needs to learn how to be a better professional full stop, 24/7. As you say, I hope he can bounce back. Needs to have something about him now to try and prove people wrong. It is all to easy to sulk in instances like this. The true test of character is if he can now get up and rise to the challenge.

I'm with you on this , I was surprised when Connor came on for Wayne ( it worked out extremely well so no complaints from me ). Whittaker has bit more about him than Cullen but I'd be happy with either

I wasn’t Cooper is getting away withmurder .IMO. His reluctance to use or misuse subs is telling. He is however a lucky boy who gets by because of the players not because of any strokes of genius from him. Wednesday was perfect for Whittaker to come on.Yes I know who supplied the cross

| Cullen in Cabango out for Swansea City’s next push on 00:54 - Apr 16 by Dr_Parnassus | Don’t be silly Risca. Take it on the chin mate. He clearly stated it wasn’t just about breaking covid protocols, but how to be a better professional athlete 24/7. And I quote... “A lesson needs to be learned quickly, not just about adhering to Covid regulations but what it means to be a 24/7 professional athlete.” “There'll be a next part to this with Ben, and he's got to become a better professional than what he's shown.” He is clearly falling below our standards off the pitch, you can pretend otherwise if you like. |
Yeah regarding this incident. There has never been a problem with Ben prior to this. Would you like me to copy and paste every comment Cooper has made about Cabango before this weekend? How be works etc. You, trying to start an agenda against a young professional player, who you apparently like, just to try and justify your comments regarding how he was Coopers first choice, when he obviously wasn’t, I find very sad. He made a mistake, he’s sorry, he will learn. He hasn’t been first choice this year as Cooper trusts Naughton more in a three, and classes as Bennett as our senior defender to play next to Guehi in a two. It’s as simple as that, it’s clear as day, whether you agree with Cooper or not is a completely different question but anyone who has an ounce of a clue can understand his reasoning.

Doesn’t sound like it to me. Sounds like it runs far deeper than that, he was clear that he needs to improve his professionalism 24/7 as well as the covid breach. This is a direct quote:- “not just about adhering to Covid regulations but what it means to be a 24/7 professional athlete”. “We all move on from it and hopefully he can be a better professional than what he's shown”. Notice the word “hopefully”. That absolutely does not sound like a model pro that has made one mistake. That’s not language you use to describe that. An agenda? What on earth are you talking about? I have been singing his praises forever. To the point I went to detailed lengths to prove we play better with him than without him - which is a fact. I made the comment that it may not be simply down to footballing reasons as a result... despite the reasoning you made up and claimed it was Coopers. A week later he gets police called to his house, breaks covid protocols and our manager publicly states he needs to understand what being a professional is and needs to improve those off the field attributes. That’s not starting any agenda, that’s clearly stating facts. Facts you don’t like because it proved me right and are now being a drama Queen. If this was Hourihane you would be all over him like a rash, you even suggested he wasn’t injured when he came off with an injury based on absolutely nothing. So I don’t think you really have a leg to stand on there my friend. If you don’t agree with Cooper that he needs to improve his level of professionalism and adjust his attitude to suit that, then it’s clear you are only saying so to save face... while misses important games in our run in for that lack of professional attitude. I’m very angry at his lack of professionalism as it Cooper, and as should you be. Whether he learns or not doesn’t take that away. Quite why your lot embroil yourselves in debates you simply cannot win I don’t know. Accept it. [Post edited 16 Apr 2021 7:53]

Haha you don't have talk some absolute nonsense, again, would you like me to copy and paste all quotes from Cooper about Ben Cabango prior to the incident Saturday? You have been signing his praises yes, I don't blame you, he's a very good player. Fact is though Cooper doesn't think he's a part of our best defense at present. That has shown. If there was a problem with attitude he wouldn't have played at all. Do you think problems off the field are the reasons for him not starting against Cardiff City for example? When they have the biggest side in the league. For the big games he trusts in an experienced premier league player in Naughton, a defender who has been promoted from this league in Bennett, senior player, and Marc Guehi, who if reports are to believed, will be in Chelsea first team picture next season. You have been proved badly wrong, and are now looking to question the character of one of our academy graduates, thrashing out, throwing your toys out of the pram. I don't know why, you specialise in getting things wrong, whether that be about football, tennis, politics etc etc. I'll ask one more time, would you like to see all of Coopers remarks on Cabango's attitude before he made the mistake Saturday, a bad one granted? We all know you won't accept being wrong, that's fine. But I'm here to help if you need to look into things further.

You can do whatever makes you feel good. But I’m sure I can find managers praising Joey Barton’s attitude, it’s what managers do... until their hand is forced. Of course Cooper doesn’t see him as a starting part of our defence anymore, he clearly did however. Quite what has changed we don’t know, you think it’s footballing reasons - yet I have shown we play better with him and are more successful with him in the side. I think it may be for reasons other than football. Since then he has been questioned regarding his professionalism and had police called to his house. As it stands when we look into your guess reasoning and mine, there is far more suggesting my reasoning makes the most sense. You have something deep rooted that hates it when someone you dislike (or have been told to) is correct. That’s why you were deadly silent when Cooper made his comments and why you simply cannot accept what is in front of your eyes now. You won’t be getting an inch from me I’m afraid.

He never did trust Cabango in the big games when everyone is fit, he played more games when Bennett and Naughton was injured. The reasons are clear, as I said before the players in front of him are either very experienced, or loanees set to become Premier League top 4 first team squad members. It's no shame at all for the boy. You called it wrong, you can't admit that, you never will and that's fine but quite why you're now thrashing out is beyond me. Who have I been told to dislike?

Indeed, however even taking out those big games we are more successful with him in our side. So if it’s a question of trust, it seems yet another question of mentality and attitude and favouring the experienced pro Naughton. Not sure what you mean by he played most when Bennett or Naughton was injured though. He’s played 30+ games this season, neither have been out for long at all this season. I think you need to re-think that one before I look into it on your behalf, that never turns out well for you. I agree it’s clear why he hasn’t been playing Cabango, especially clear now. Sadly this is the latest of a long line of things I look to have called spot on that’s got your back up. I have no idea who has told you to take the ridiculous attitude you have adopted. For your sake I can only hope it’s your instruction rather than natural instinct. Otherwise there is no hope for you. Not getting anywhere with me, I will never cede common sense. Cooper obviously has a different opinion to you regarding our best defence, I have no idea why you keep having a hissy fit with me for pointing that out. You can keep telling yourself you've called me out on things if it makes you feel better, that's fine, the reality is though you are consistent in being wrong about things you argue passionately about, and you then thrash out, in this case, questioning the last two seasons of work Ben Cabango has put in to become a Welsh International, Important Squad player for us, and a soon to be regular. We just give the guy a four year contract with a pay rise, if there were problems with his attitude and professionalism then that wouldn't happen, Cardiff couldn't wait to bomb out Matondo for example. Common sense.

Absolutely, but the reasons why is probably more interesting. Cooper feels Cabango needs to improve his professional attitude, you don’t seem to. Don’t get mad about it. Cooper has said he “hopes” it improves, he doesn’t sound sure. Wrong? I can’t remember being wrong once let alone many times. Saying I’m wrong doesn’t mean I am, you have to show that. As of yet you have failed to do so, only reinforce the points I made. What do you mean “if” there is a problem with his attitude? His attitude has caused problems, he’s now getting punished by the club for it. Cabango is a very valuable young player but has a lot of developing to do off the field, you think we wouldn’t offer him a contract because of that? Lads with far worse attitudes than Cabango have had long contracts, what are you talking about. Sorry you aren’t making any sense now. [Post edited 16 Apr 2021 8:34]

He made a mistake on Saturday night, a big one and will be punished. No question about that. You have no idea on Cabango's attitude off the field, none at all. He has been first replacement for us and you absolutely despite it because you spent days on here bringing out all stats saying how much better we are, saying how he was going to be starting the derby game, you are wrong and in your mind you hate it, so you are now questioning the young lad, the young lad whose gone from our academy to TNS, back to U23s, First Team, Welsh International, Four year or whatever it is contract. Very, very poor form and quite sad to be honest.

If it’s only one mistake and no reflection on his professionalism or attitude, then why is Cooper saying his professionalism needs to improve and he can only hope it does? Sounds incredibly harsh for a simple mistake that has no reflection on his professionalism or attitude, doesn’t it? Common sense may be questioning that logic again I’m afraid.

Because Saturday night he fell short of the standards he, and the club have set and has been called up on it, and rightly so. What is harsh is someone questioning a young lad who has come on leaps and bounds over the last two years because the opposite to what they had argued over and over about hasn't happen. Being a first change for us at 20 year old is no shame at all when we have the players we got at our disposal.

You are missing the point, if he only fell short of that for a single day and was an isolated incident... then why does he “hope” his professionalism improves and become “a better professional athlete 24/7”. Doesn’t quite fit with the narrative you want to portray. I haven’t questioned anything, I am stating a fact that our manager has called out Cabango for his lack of professionalism, we are in a promotion run in and he has ruled himself out of games for breaking covid protocols, hosting a drunken party and having police called to his house. Unwarranted questioning of our players would be stating a player who comes off injured isn’t really injured. Ahem.

Yeah and Cooper was right with them words, as having a party at the times you state wasn't professional, and he has been reminded of his responsibilities. Again - would you like me to send you Cooper's comments on Ben prior to this? It was an isolated incident and it has been dealt with, correctly by Cooper aswell may I add. Back playing football two weeks later after doing a hammy off a crunching challenge *cough cough*.

Cooper's comments on Cabango prior to the problem with his off field actions coming into the public eye is irrelevant, again that is what managers do. Joey Barton has had praise for his attitude from certain managers. If Cooper was ''spot on'' with his comments then you agree his attitude and professionalism isn't up to scratch and can only hope it improves too. If it does then he may find himself in the team. If it was only an isolated incident with no reflection on his attitude or professionalism then there is no issue and we don't need to hope anything improves.

Well it is relevant isn't it, as you're trying to claim he hasn't been playing due to his professionalism, which over the length of time he has been with first team has been first class, according to Cooper anyway unless he's lying. Sadly he let himself down Saturday night and has been reminded of his responsibilities by Cooper. He will find himself in the team soon enough, we won't always have Naughton and Guehi.
