| Sub Postmasters scandal on 13:00 - Jul 11 with 588 views | Catullus | Personally I'm not so worried about the financial side of it, I want to know who in the Post Office made these decisions when they knew the "new" computers had issues. To me there should be Post Office officials who should be facing charges, I reckon somebody high up used these court cases to cover their own botch ups while knowing they were throwing innocent people to the wolves. | |

Exactly, one of the foundations of the prosecution was that the IT was reliable.

Absolutely disgraceful what happened to these people
| Sub Postmasters scandal on 13:52 - Jul 11 with 570 views | YrAlarch | One matter, out of a number of troubling issues, is that when individual sub postmasters were interviewed by post office investigators, they were told that they were the only ones subject to investigation. It was only much later that they became aware that they were amongst many facing allegations of fraud and were thus able to share their experiences with the flawed computer system and form a support group. This gave momentum to the subsequent challenges to their criminal convictions. However for a number of these 'victims' it all came too late. It's a disgraceful episode in our corporate history. | | | |

Hell of a story Jim. Good to see your union doing its job. The sub Postmasters is a shocker. Common sense might tell sensible people that this was very unlikely to be correct. Shirley ? [Post edited 11 Jul 2021 16:34]

Agree Gents. I was suspended several times in Plod and once in another job. Occupational hazard. There are many out there looking for brownie points and promotion not bothering how tenuous the allegation is. I found Union reps to be useless as were their solicitors. If in shyte always pay for the best-ie most vicious solicitor .

Under her leadership, the Post Office prosecuted hundreds of subpostmasters for fraud, despite knowing that the financial discrepancies were actually arising from computer errors for which her own company was responsible. She got the CBE for services to the Post Office.

I got called in for claiming £164.00 for driving from Dartford to Glasgow in my annual expenses. I was asked if I had any excuses, I said no excuse at all as was referred for an investigation. At the hearing I was asked why I only claimed for 410 miles, I explained I travelled to Glasgow on the 3rd of April and returned on the 7th of April and that I would claim the return journey in the next quarter's expenses!!

| Sub Postmasters scandal on 15:52 - Jul 12 with 357 views | majorraglan | What’s happened to these people is disgusting and criminal, the people at the top of the Post Office should be held to account. To be honest I am sick of the lack of accountability at the highest levels. Southern Water were fined £90m a few days ago for shocking breaches of environmental legislation over an extended period. The company has had a huge fine, but the people in charge at the time have trousered lots of cash and moved on, the new board have to face the music. In cases like this, the Directors in role at the time /ex directors should also be facing the music and time in the slammer. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk- [Post edited 12 Jul 2021 16:24]
