| Grimes on 11:57 - Aug 21 with 1324 views | A_Fans_Dad | He is still sadly lacking in confidence around the penalty area. He gets in good shooting positions and then falters, changes his mind and passes to a player in a poorer position. We know he has a good shot in him. A shout out for some of Fulton's long and diagonal passes as well, kept the City defence guessing. | | | |
| Grimes on 12:13 - Aug 21 with 1316 views | Whiterockin | Possibly because with two up front he had more options, plus Laird who was staying onside unlike Latty in the last couple of games. | | | |

He's not an instinctive player, he thinks too much, that's why he'll never be a great player. A good player in this division but he won't make the step up, in my opinion.

| Grimes on 13:22 - Aug 21 with 1244 views | Catullus | Totally agree, he was further forward, not dropping so deep as often which made more space. It helped that the players made the decision to be more pragmatic, to play long balls out when under pressure. Much as I want the short pass and move, sometimes you have to play it longer. | |

There was an instance in the first half where he got a second ball and Piroe had already started running but his pass was procrastinated and even though Joel eventually got the ball it made a difficult chance out of what should have been an easier one. If he’s sold a more attack minded or instinctive player should be brought in to pick out those passes.

| Grimes on 20:37 - Aug 21 with 1018 views | AndyCole | . Dear God, It's so very telling how some are unable to see that Grimes is one of the very best DCMs/CMs and expect him to be the best ACM. Bonkers. And speaks volumes for them and how off-the-scale Grimes brilliant is in Midfield. Shame on them. . . | |

Oh stop the Wummery mun. If Grimes was 'off the scale brilliant' he wouldn't be in Swansea. An EPl team would have snapped him up by now. What is it, now that Cooper isn't here you switched to Grimes to sing ridiculous praises for? Grimes is good but not brilliant.

Grimes is good but verging on the most overated of all our players Gower De Vries De Guzman All good player enough players but certainly over praised and overated. Grimes ,for all his front, has no shot ,no ability at free kicks and his corners are woeful. Last night he was ok but Im sorry ,the uberpraise is bizarre.

| Grimes on 03:14 - Aug 22 with 882 views | angryjack | Grimes us a great player in the right system with options to hit and a center forward with movement or can at least hold the ball and runners to give him options...his game is about passing quickly switching play quickly, and if the movement is there is game will shine | | | |

Just like Cooper no one really wants a fake. He will never make it in the PL. Far too limited.

Agreed, Brynmill, this is what speaks to the frustrating tendencies that Grimes has that has so far limited his development. He has the vision to spot a pass but seems to lack the confidence to pull the trigger, and is far too inconsistent with his technique when he finally does. This also applies to his shooting ability, and his decisionmaking in the final third leaves a lot to be desired. On the plus side, he is supremely fit and never gets injured, and he is usually good with his positioning and at spreading the ball around the middle third. He’s a reliable screen in front of the defence and a professional character that gets up when he is knocked down. But he essentially exists in a strange purgatory where he lacks the ability to be a game-changer going forward without the physical qualities to be a top-level destroyer or box-to-box midfielder. I compare him to Wijnaldum in that regard, obviously nowhere near his class, but someone who is best utilised as the hybrid No 6/8 charged with keeping play ticking and the ball moving to the right spots at the right time. Keeping it simple is the best advice I think anyone could give him, because he struggles with too much on his shoulders and too many tasks to fulfill. If he does finally get his move I would expect us to go for a No 10 like Callum O’Hare, someone who can wreak havoc in the final third with his dribbling and passing ability with an eye for goal. Piröe has proven he can score in this division and I think changed what Martin is looking for, although managers always love having more strikers than they need. Much will also depend on what happens with Lowe, Cullen and Whittaker, and will probably come down to the wire. I trust Scott to bring in good players and Martin to make the best of them, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

Trying their luck mate, the original deal was 2.5 with add ons.

| Grimes on 22:54 - Aug 22 with 611 views | WalterBoyd | The fact that Russell seems to genuinely want him to stay, I want him to stay. Obviously has a big part to play if kept. Two steps forward and one step back for Russell as far as team building goes unfortunately if Grimes goes. | | | |
