For us they were far and away the better side on the day. 0

Birmingham had that too mind. I’d prefer Martin to just take some of the criticism himself instead of deflecting all the time. Always seems to be an excuse. It was a bad performance, we set up wrong and went about it badly. Didn’t learn from the first time we messed about at the back where they missed an open goal and it didn’t snap us into action. Last week I was reading how fit we were and how great a job the management team had to get out squad into a position where we had superior fitness than our opponents. Can’t keep up with all the about turns. Are we fit or aren’t we? If not, why aren’t we. We have had two intentional breaks. Bad performance, both from the players and the management, it happens and will happen more too, would be unrealistic to expect otherwise. We learn and move on, just wish he could stop with the excuses, they are tiresome.

I remained optimistic but positivity can only get you so far. Tired legs catching up is to be expected and we don't have the squad to make many changes.

Not strictly correct with regard to Birmingham having to cope with the same run of fixtures. Yes they had a local derby with WBA last week but that was on Friday ours was 2 days later on Sunday. Our derby win followed close after against high flying WBA seemed to have drained us a bit psychologically. It is still work in progress but we are moving forward in the right direction.

Excuse or a reason there's a difference as I'm sure you know. We didn't play anywhere near the levels expected from us but then they're not machines are they. We're no where near being the finished product (or are we ) time will tell

I agree we didn’t play anywhere near as good as we could have. But I don’t buy the fitness excuse. All clubs are pretty much in the same boat, if we aren’t fit by now then we should be.

Exactly. 3 games in 6 days as opposed to 3 games in 8 days. Obviously that makes a difference. Add into that WBA had an extra 2 days rest before playing us, no wonder we were drained after that match. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Sounds like excuses to me. Last week I was reading how fit we were and how much fitter than the opposition we were. We seemed to improve as the game went on yesterday. Our misplaced passing was our problem, not our fitness. That happened from minute 1. Just not buying it.

My agenda is for my club to be the best it can be. Don’t do excuses. Don’t do faux praise. Don’t buy into the messiah nonsense. Poor performance. Learn from it. Move on.

The performance was poor, but to write off the length of recovery time between matches is just stupid.

I’m not writing it off, I’m saying we improved as the game went on so I don’t see much sense in attributing the performance to fitness. If we dropped off as the game went on then there may be something to it. However we were misplacing passes all over the shop from minute 1 as we looked to insist on short passing again. That’s not a fitness issue.

Birmingham, like WBA had 2 extra days to recover before Wednesday. Being fit doesn't mean you can't tire and if you get a knock on Wednesday with only 2 days til your next game it's bound to have an effect. We are fitter than we were but we are not supermen. Even ignoring that, we had two very good performances then one sub par performance, it happens. We don't have a strong squad. We cannot make 5/6 changes and hope to have the same performances. Hopefully that will change over a couple of transfer windows where Martin has a chance to fetch in players he wants, get rid of the excess baggage and maybe bring the U23's up to speed too, make them first team ready, or at least some of them. We are not a finished article and won't be for a while yet. Those 2 international breaks, the players weren't resting, they were working hard, they just had no matches.

Cabango and Ben are the same person. Difficult for them not to play together. Have only skimmed the post match stuff (been busy) but one thing stands out time and again. You do not have the first idea what you're talking about.

That’s what I’m saying, it happens. Will happen again too. No need for excuses though, tactics could have been better, changes could have been made much sooner. We learn. We move on. The excuses are getting tiresome.

Yep,some others saw it that way. Ben/Benny/ Bennett is nothing like a full back and should not simply be expected to do so. To have Manning ,a frail lad, as other fullback was mad considering the likes of Deeley were playing. This was exactly the case with Fulham where the Bully that is Mitrovic simply ran over our lads. We need some physicality at CH. Naughton is not. Pointless selecting them to play it out of when they do get it far bigger towards ensure they can’t play it out safely. First goal was simply faffing about.

| Russell Martin ‘ We didn’t have the energy, we lacked intensity” on 15:56 - Oct 24 with 759 views | ReslovenSwan1 | Swansea were out worked last season and outworked again this season. Swansea were not sufficiently up for the fight. (lacking intensity). The fual data was the ames Birmingham fouled twice as much as Swansea with almost the exact data. Same result a one goal loss. Russell has a decent sized squad and could have rotated. Brandon Cooper would have been up for it and Fulton. Dhanda would at least have been fresh and Whittaker and Obafemi could have started. Russel has the data and needs to react before games. Latibaeudiree at CB and manning replacing Bidwell. 6 changes to keep everyone fresh. Swansea would not have got less points. | |

No arguments at all with that. Said same with Cooper last year we looked out on our feet yesterday early the squad needs to be utilised.
