Apache Longbow likely to outperform Eurocopter Tiger in attack. Both have similar sea power - Theoretically the UK’s 2 carriers would be and advantage, but only 18 F35s Against 40 Rafale M on the CDG Air power. Would largely depend on whether the Typhoon is much better than the Rafale. Too few F-35s yet in service. We have more Typhoons than the French Air Force have Rafale, But they also have a lot of older Mirage 2000s. As we found in the Falklands that older supersonic jets like the A 4 Skyhawks can cause problems. Of course the bigger difference is France likes to make its own kit. We are too reliant on the F35

That’s true, but barring a WW2 level of incompetence by the French, it ‘s two very matched military powers. Ultimately the channel gives the defender an advantage.

The French could re fuel their submarines in the south of Ireland. Like the Germans did during ww2. Not sure the French subs are very good though, the Australians don’t think so.

Depends on who attacks first. If France were seen as the aggressors they’d be booted out of NATO as they would be breaking that treaty. The UK would have NATO and the commonwealth behind them. Obviously if the UK attacked first the reverse would be true. It’s not going to happen anyway it’s all hypothetical and it’s all a load of handbags really but to suggest the UK would not have any support is just abject nonsense. The UK still has a lot of what is known as soft power in the world. Plus we also have enough nuclear warheads to destroy half the solar system.

Calais was our last territory in France after the 100 years war, at one point, England had more territory than the French king and lost it all. So yeah, thats a great English victory then LOL The ones you've been reading, they weren't written by Anus Abraham by any chance? [Post edited 29 Oct 2021 18:25]

The Americans didn’t save us. We saved ourselves. The Americans didn’t even bother turning up until 1942. They certainly helped with D-day and the push to Berlin but we stood pretty much alone before that, if it wasn’t for the genuinely heroic victory in the Battle of Britain we’d all be speaking German or Russian by now.

I'm sure that eventually, without American help, and Hitler invading Russia, we would have succumbed to the Germans in the end. What some people don't realise is, Germany declared war on America not the other way round.

Spot on as usual Boundy…. In World War II the chief Allied powers were Great Britain, France (except during the German occupation, 1940—44), the Soviet Union (after its entry in June 1941), the United States (after its entry on December 8, 1941), and China. More generally, the Allies included all the wartime members of the United Nations, the signatories to the Declaration of the United Nations. The original signers of January 1, 1942, were Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, Costa Rica, Cuba, Czechoslovakia, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Greece, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, India, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Poland, South Africa, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Yugoslavia. Subsequent wartime signers were (in chronological order) Mexico, the Philippines, Ethiopia, Iraq, Brazil, Bolivia, Iran, Colombia, Liberia, France, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Paraguay, Venezuela, Uruguay, Turkey, Egypt, Syria, and Lebanon.
