The Americans didn’t save us. We saved ourselves. The Americans didn’t even bother turning up until 1942. They certainly helped with D-day and the push to Berlin but we stood pretty much alone before that, if it wasn’t for the genuinely heroic victory in the Battle of Britain we’d all be speaking German or Russian by now.
Well ,they helped. Have a look at Normandy's graveyards.Full of the buggers.

America supplied us with everything even before they came into the war you header, that is why Churchill was going over there begging Roosevelt for help and making speeches in there congress to get them on board, despite the battle of Britain success we as a country were on our knees, i may add the Hitler diverting his attention from us making the stupid mistake of taking on the Russians as well was a great help.
Still lots of people trying to get in though, more than want to get out, strange that.
Desperate people or people trying to get in for more sinister reasons will try to get in anywhere, its just some countries are better than others at controlling matters such as this.

Why would they be desperate to get to the UK from France, France is a lovely place, and the rest of the world loves the French, much more that those horrible English people.

"America supplied us with everything even before they came into the war ". You must be kidding. Yes they supplied food and oil before they came in and lend leased uscrappy old ships. We have only recently paid of our War debt. https://www.independent.co.uk/ The Germans never did.
I'm sure that eventually, without American help, and Hitler invading Russia, we would have succumbed to the Germans in the end.
What some people don't realise is, Germany declared war on America not the other way round.
After 1941 we had both air superiority and naval superiority. We also had a serious strategic advantage in that we could decipher German messages thanks to our clever boffins at Bletchley park. We had far more advanced radar technology. Any chance of a German invasion was gone by then. Their whole strategy of hit hard, hit fast had failed (blitzkrieg). Their whole strategy relied on this. They couldn’t and didn’t win a war of attrition just like they couldn’t and didn’t win in 1914-1919.

America was also supplying the Germans you plonker. They didn’t take sides early on, it was a trade opportunity for them. IBM were supplying the machines used for keeping tabs on the Jews, Henry Ford and Hitler were very big buddies. Ford openly admitted to selling them stuff from his European factories. They supplied oils for military equipment. There was a lot of fascist sentiment in a lot of quarters in the US at the time.

What history books have you been reading? we didn't have air superiority (nowhere near it), even after the battle of Britain, if Göring hadn't changed tactics and carried on bombing our airfields we'd have been well and truly bollaxed, the RAF were on their knees, the bombing of our cities gave them the opportunity to regroup.

Ok to put it more accurately we stopped the Germans from gaining air superiority over the channel which was their intent in the first phase of operation sea lion. That and our naval control of the channel made a seaborne invasion utterly impossible. Our more advanced radar systems gave us early warning of raids and we were shooting down bombers faster than they could produce them. Also we had a significant advantage that if a pilot crash landed or had to eject they’d land in Britain meaning they could rejoin the fight quickly whereas German pilots were captured.
Goring changed tactics because he knew they were futile. Night raids became more common because they became increasingly frustrated that we always had advanced warnings of attacks during the day because of radar and enigma.
Most history books would confirm these simple facts.
The issue is far more complex that some of you are trying to make out. The Germans would not have budged out of Western Europe without American and Russian persuasion. Very little the UK could have done about it.
Oh and without the "cowardly" French army, Britain wouldn't have had an army left.

The French defeat in 1940 was due to tactical error-the belief the Maginot Line was impregnable and a fallback to WWI tactics that failed against Blitzkrieg. Poor military leadership and political ineptitude and cowardice . There was no lack of bravery in the French military. That so many of the BEF got out was down to this (including my grandfather). The battle of Boulogne fought by largely French training units was key to delaying the Wehrmacht. The battle of Saumur by French cavalry cadets was one of the bravest actions of the war and the start of the French resistance.
We have a very anglocentric view based on films and TV. We know little of the bravery of the Poles, the resilience of the Soviet Union and indeed the war where we or the US were not involved. That’s not to decry what our troops, airmen and sailors contributed, but simply to see beyond Exceptionalism and see a bigger picture. Yea

We of course defeated the Germans and Italian armies in North Africa on our own. The Germans lost more men and had more soldiers captured than at the battle of Stalingrad.

What you mean like France or Germany???
Each time I go to Bedd - au........................

Certainly the Italians, along with other commonwealth/ empire countries. Germany was only finally defeated with US support and in particular the defeat of the Germans and the Vichy French (by largely US and Free French forces E.g. Operation Torch) In Francophone North Africa . Although El Alamein was often considered the first greatBritish victory of the war it was a long and fluctuating conflict. Less well known was the East African campaign against Italian occupation of Somalia and Ethiopia-in the latter the Italians were defeated by Ethiopian rebels led by Haile Selassie with British support. In what is now Somalia it was a British-led victory and important to to eventual victory In the deserts of Egypt and Libya
And again beyond Stalingrad we know little of the war in Eastern Europe .

Yes in many ways the maginot line worked as intended. It forced the Germans to go through Belgium and into the northern fields where the bulk of the army was waiting for them in much the same way they held out years earlier. As you say this failed against the more modern tactics.

This.
Although I know this won’t be popular… the plucky Battle of Britain narrative isn’t true.
I’m not trying to take away from the heroic acts of the forces, by we had all kinds of advantages over the disorganised and poorly prepared Germans.

Yeah Hitler was convinced after the fall of the rest of Western Europe we would sue for peace given our seemingly hopeless situation. He was wrong about that like he was wrong about a lot of things and also had some sort of motor neurone disease, a button mushroom type micropenis and only one testicle. Allegedly. No wonder he was so angry all the time.

How thick are you did Churchill go over to America and make speeches at the American congress begging them for help or do you think this is untrue as well, he received a standing ovation for a brilliant performance and got them to supply us with the help we desperately needed, now go and Google to check if this is true or not its historical fact you buffoon.
