I'm currently indifferent to it, he's a successful businessman (well his family is), but while Winters dealings in my opinion have been questionable, at least he's an experienced operator in dealing with clubs at this level, in this country. Silverstein certainly isn't.

What in particular reassures you then Keith?

Silverstein is in the country for the transfer window. It is time to move on Fulton and Dhanda, and Rhys Williams . Brandon Cooper, Benda, Cullen need to go on loan leaving room for 6 new players in permanently and loan.

The money man is here to make decisions on behalf of the US ownership group. No need for cross Atlantic phone calls e mails and texting. Ability to make fast decisions will avoid losing deals.

If he's capable of getting to point of making deals that it is. We know Winter was capable of getting to that stage of negotiations with other hardened chief executives, chairmen etc within the league.

What evidence is there that Silverstein is qualified to fulfill this crucial role?

He after all does only own half of the CLN and no shareholding so will be able make the final calls?

Genuine question.

There is no evidence at all, until he has been given a chance to prove what he can do then questions are really not right at present.

Its going to be a tough window in light of what is happening at present so I for one will await and see what is achieved.

More interest than confidence at present from myself.

Questions are exactly right at this time because as you agree there is no evidence he is capable of it. The alternative and person who's duties he's taking over, there is evidence of at least a certain level of proficiency in this field.

So yes interest, reservations, questions but not outright opposition from me.

Let's give the poster the opportunity to tell us why Silverstein is the best person for undertaking this task without mentioning the trust, Burnley or Santander bank.....

I think with Jake it's all about trust mate, he’s the one they trust.
Could be a warning sign. But not for the club.

You have to give a person atleast one chance before you can question if he/she is up to it or not, everyone has to start off somewhere and questioning them before they have even tried for the first time is just looking for trouble.

Reserve the judgement and questions until February.

Absolutely not.

Should we have kept our own counsel when Bob Bradley was appointed then? Even though he was evidently unqualified for the role? We weren't allowed an opinion?

What!?

Bob Bradley who had numerous jobs before being appointed Swansea manager? That Bob Bradley!
Now if you had suggested Roberto Martinez who had never held a management roll before his appointment then fair enough.

So to say absolutely not is a slight over reaction and I have the feeling you don't think he is up to it, until he has failed then he can't be questioned........we may be questioning him come Feb but he has to be given a chance first and foremost.

Working together with Winter makes sense. Silverstein can be a very good negotiator but still, this is new to him and this is a very important window for us. The january window is also harder than the summer window, teams want more money than the summer, they play hardball more.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

The US people have the evidence and they are not minded to share it with you and me. They come from the same "culture" of financial management in US business and trust each others judgement and openness .

Levien trusted HJ judgement until it came a cropper with Bony 2 Clucas and Mesa. Most of us felt uneasy over Bony 2. HJ trusted Clement's judgement on Sanches.

The good thing is they are spending the money as if it was their own. It is in fact their own.

Their own?

It’s the companies, they don’t own the company, they just own majority shares in it.

The club is spending the clubs money.

Numerous jobs that gave no hint he was capable of achieving results at a club of Swansea City's means in a relegation battle. Yes that Bob Bradley. Same applies to Martinez and anyone really. You've just done it yourself there Martinez had no experience. A relevant, viable reservation to air. Absolutely normal and fine thing to do.

I don't know if he's up to it, is there any evidence to suggest he could be up it? I haven't written him off. Just comparing him to the current / previous incumbent who we know does have a track record of sorts.

Don't conflate questioning with outright opposition.

If it's compelling evidence why not share it? Communicate with the fanbase.

Actually I think it was the Americans doing the negotiations that summer of the Siggy / Clucas shambles?

Well no, it's the club's money. Whether that be from players we sell or money the club has to pay back with interest.

Think you could ask yourself is there any reason he can't do it as easily as asking someone else if they think he is qualified for the roll.

All for questioning if it's aimed correctly, give him January and then we can have the questions and conversation then especially if he hasn't done a good job.

Yes I have and it's due to his inexperience and lack of contacts compared to Winter. Viable considerations / facts?

He may have other qualities which outweigh these, I don't know. That's what I'm asking - what are these qualities?

I'm asking what he's bringing to the task, which is extremely focused on the subject.

Come Januarys end we can review yes, but that's a different process. That can still happen. It's not one or the other.
