He said “I don’t want to make excuses” then goes on to say:
- “Haven’t got enough players that can play Saturday and Tuesday.” - “Too many tired bodies, I think.” - “The emotion of Saturday took it out of them.” - “Playing the last game and so many minutes with 10 men” - “When you are coming in with no pre season” - “The extra break we have had recently, and all that”
Then reiterates again “it’s not an excuse but…”
- “a game too many for too many of our players” - “the pitch was difficult” - “not sure about the penalty which changed the game” - “late kick off” - “6 hours on a bus yesterday hasn’t helped, and all that”
That’s eleven excuses in around 2 minutes of answer regarding today’s performance.
He blamed the ref, not having fit players, tiredness, effect of heightened emotion, the bus journey (yesterday?!), the pitch, the ref, pre season and the winter break.
He has to be trolling at this point surely?
How can you still be talking about a lack of pre season in the middle of February, when you have just had an impromptu month off over Xmas when most clubs are crying out for a rest?? Then blaming a long bus journey AND the pitch to top it off.
Get real.

He needs to change things pretty quick because he won't see next season. But he is to stubborn to change with his blind belief of our football match should be played.
Even when you know, you never know?

I would have had some respect for him if he had come out with something like
" I put my hands up I got the set up and tactics wrong. Given the short turnaround time between Saturdays tough game where we ended up with 10 men I thought Id give some tired legs a rest and also try to match their physicality with a different line up. It is difficult with our current injury and suspension list and lack of depth tin our squad in certain areas to be able to do this.
I got it wrong and there are lessons I can learn form this."
Instead he blames the owners/board, pitch , bus driver, referee and actually his own players.
Didn't some say recently they were happy for us to take a step back if it meant 2 forward? I'm sure someone did. The truth is we took several steps forward before Christmas but then fell over and rolled back past the starting point, ever since then it has been one step forward but 2 backwards.
It's actually sickening to see Martin blaming everyone and everything but not taking any blame himself.
I've had enough of him. I really wanted him to succeed, I really wanted to see the entertaining football even if it wasn't promotion winning but what we have now is the worst of both worlds, we are losing AND we are poor to watch and I won't blame anyone else, I'm blaming poor team selection, poor tactics and strategy.
I have a friend who's kid works for the Swans, the kid has told Dad that behind the scenes some of the senior pro's are calling Martin all sorts of things, not good things.
We signed Ogbeta and his previous manager is shouting what a great price they got a for a player in his last year of contract AND he's injured too, that's shocking. We sign a centre back but we play possibly our best midfielder at CB, what a waste. We persist with a system we haven't players for so he forces players to play out of position, its nonsense.

Just to add to that, he openly admits that we will see a different team performance next season ( I won't comment if he's here) If that's the case he's admitting that it's not working. Give the fans performances to support for the rest of the season, playing to players strengths and correct position.

This is a positive a all by now should see the light about Martin. We have been conned, decent fans, some of whom who have passed away recently ,having to listen to such lies. And lies they are.
I have stated he is one of the worst managers wide have had in recent times. On reflection,he is the worst as he will not be honest with himself or the fans .
The players look disorganised, disinterested and disaffected and are drifting away;they know that.Pato tried to get out and failed.
We have enough players to be a decent team but they are being used as sacrificial lambs on the Altar of Martin ;it is disgusting .346 went last night and maybe we should ask one of them how it felt.
Stoke ,first half ,looked shocked at how bad we were.

With him still in situ come September with another window behind him we are looking at relegation ,make no mistake. Next season, the Championship will be tougher.

A good manager uses his resources the best way he can. This is Bob Bradleyesque...who can I play where, tonight? Is he rolling a dice...where can I play Cabango, he's a decent centre half so, hmmm, left or right back. Downes is a good midfielder so centre back it is. Our wing back gets sent off so put a defensive midfielder at CAM and a CAM to wing back.
I can't be sure of course, but its starting to look to me like Martin has realised he's having a complete mare and is trying to get sacked!
Football stopped being a massively important thing in my life 20 years back, if it wasn't for my son really wanting to go, I might not.

But according to some on here Martin is a great manager or apparantly one in the making abd great managers do things differently

There is no evidence to suggest he is even going to be good. He has won nothing He has not improved players Clubs have not benefit from his stewardship
He is a great as PR -his own though but that facade will soon be exposed

Wasnt daps the chap referring to me as some sort of clown, backed up by lifelong (of course). Its ok as I am mostly right about most things mainly as I am older and wiser .
I have said our club was in peril from Martin months ago and hammered for that but ,as I do,I stand by every word. More are relaising the parlous situation we face with absent feckless owners and a coach that really is nothing of the sort.
The way Martin has handled or mishandled lads is disgusting and we should ALL be indgnant ,not at each other ,but at him.
Personally,I believe the loaning out of Whitaker, the ignnoring of Joseph, the loaning of Wolf in and the Burns kid shows he is without a clue and cannot be defended at all.
Phil Jag was playing for Stoke last night and he is pushing 40. He wasnt exactly stretched was he. He was made for Joseph and /or Obefemi to run at him quickly but quick we are not as it all slows down for Grimes the undroppable.
Absolutely terrible to hear. The odd 20 mins here and there are not enough at this stage of the season.
He’s had an opportunity, brought in many of his own players (in some positions where no obvious upgrade) and it’s too late for him to use all those excuses
I’ve worked with people like this in the past, there’s always a reason why they don’t hit targets or complete what is required of them. He is full of his own ego and unfortunately we are going to struggle for the rest of this year with him in charge
This is Patches O'Houlihan saying "Take care of your balls, and they'll take care of you."

Martin has given his reasons for the very poor performance. Hopefully Martin can mitigate these effects as best he can for the remainder of the season and avoid relegation.
It seems to me Martin sees the solution in bringing new players. This option is not available at Swansea and he has to use Fulton, Dhanda Bennett and Latibeaudiere whether he likes it or not. He will also have a raft of returning loan players in June. He has name checked Ollie Cooper but no one name checks Garrick with 6 goals and 7 assists to his name.
The club under Mr Allen want Martin to run with a trimmed squad voluntarily sending out 9 players on loan while the manager complains about lack of numbers. No point paying fees in January when the same players are free in the summer.

I had more time for Bradley. He had no clue but was new to the league, the country, had a week to settle in. Martin has no excuses, he is just not a football manager

so tell me how will different players change the 6 hour bus drive, the pitch? We have seen a turniver of players this season already with in my opinion the addition of Downs, Piroe, Ntcham, Paterson and evenObafami an upgrade on last season.
Ollie Cooper was used at the tail end of last season I have said this before if this season is a season o ftransisition and rebuild why not recall Ollie in JAnuary and start to ease him into the squad rather than spalsh cash on a loanee like Wolf?
At least then Ollie would have been here and worked with this so called soon to be great manager understanding his requirements and game plan ready nor the miraclolous season we are due to see next year

The more players that are brought in the more they can help keep the oppositions grass nice in the week leading up to it, due to their new gardening duties they can go up a few days earlier before too which will give them time to recover from the bus journey.
He’s got it all thought out to be fair. Play offs here we come.

Mr Allen knows the club philosophy and will have it ingrained in his outlook. We all know the line.
"Swansea will always provide the pathway for our own young player to get into the first team. Swansea will be a possession based team."
The first thing Martin did is ditch Benda and replace with a 'ordinary Joe ' veteran in Hamer. OK ha has to get results.
Now Martin is getting poor results and he is discovering his veterans like Smith and Bennett, Naughton have no legs for 2 games in 3 days. If Martin goes to Allen for new deals for Hamer and Smith there could be a clash of philosophies. Philosophies cannot be ignored.
Cooper had a philosophy and ignored it for two seasons. After a hard graft 0-1 away win he would say. " We could not play like we wanted to play today because of the pitch the wind the opposition the long grass etc". Garry Monk did much better than Cooper but is credited with changing the philosophy. Perhaps Cooper will get promotion and take his team to 6th in the Premier league.
Martin is bigging up Cabango. The one philosophical coat hook he can hang his coat on at the moment.

Can someone translate please?
DO you ever actually answer the question posed?
How do you know Naughton hasnt the legs he is currently crocked!
Why wasnt Ollie recalled in January rather than spend money on Wolf ...this season has already been written off and had been by many so they say after the play off final so wouldnt it make sense to have some of these young players of ours playing now alongisde the likes of NAughton, Fulton and Bennet learning from teir experience whilst also being trained in the MArtin way ready for next season.
