Birmingham Erdington - have we sounded bottom yet? 13:46 - Mar 4 with 1485 viewsLohengrin

Any of you catch the coverage of yesterday’s by-election in Birmingham? Well, Labour in shape of Paulette Hamilton have somehow contrived to get an absolute space cadet through the gates of Westminster. A woman apparently torn between “the ballot and the bullet.” Someone who thinks a a black uprising may be the way to achieve her ends.

No, I don’t know where they find them either?

Starmer was on the wireless now just, lauding her as “an authentic working class voice.” Ha! I don’t know how many works‘ canteens Keir has been in but I’m guessing its not too many.

What of the Tories? What could the most venal and corrupt administration in living memory conjure up to counter this loon and send a message to the good people of Erdington that they were a safe, sensible choice?

They decided to think outside of the box and came up with Robert Alden. To fight this rough, city ward they produced a candidate most would mistake for a nineteenth century rustic poet!

Here he be:

The upshot of all this is 73% of constituents turned their backs on the whole business. If you think that stat is an exaggeration, go check for yourself. If you lie to people, then lie, then lie some more eventually reality seeps into even the thickest of skulls. Who wants to continually pour coins into a machine when the fruit never, ever lines up?

An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it.

How people get selected to be an elected representative is a million miles from what was envisaged by King Alfred. We seem to be at an all time low, I'm pretty sure we can find more totally inept people there seems to be no shortage.

And some how played down if not ignored by the main stream media

Not another loony leftyist trying to sew as much division as possible?

I have come to the opinion that the worst racist's and hypocrites responsible for creating division are the one's that belong to WOKE/loony-left/BLM/ANTIFA/black militant politics. How ironic!

Is it any wonder why leading and well respected black voices (e.g. Trevor Phillips etc) have so much contempt for the aforementioned.

They've already had a revolution,some would argue.

Maybe us whites should simply hand the country over to Black people and we simply serve them,as they did us.

Thanks for that, very educational! A certain Truckjack taught me once to use etc instead of ect.

There again I did recently correct myself when my typing went way ahead of my thought process i.e. it's FSS Chepstow as opposed to ( extremely common mistake with others also) FFS. Can happen!

King Alfred?

Historians give him credit for starting a democratic process where communities could identify someone who they trusted to speak for them and represent their interests. Obviously, a very different process from today where polical parties identify people

The Armada is shut and the Navigation is now a Chinese Buffet place . The Lad in the Lane is still open as far as I know . I used to like visiting the Ducatti dealership underneath Spaghetti junction and drool over the bikes . It was owned by one Michael Hailwood of TT fame. How ironic that he was killed by a lorry that turned into his path while going to the chip shop for his family's supper . Very sad especially when you consider the speeds he had been doing becoming world champion .RIP Mike.

The highstreet is full of fast food /cafes you are right and a very cheap place to shop too. The Bromford for me was and still is the best chippy around there . Used to have the odd lock in at the reservoir , Cuckoo Bridge 😉Lots of industrial history in Erdington too The su carburettor factory was based there close to what is now the jaguar car factory but what was then the massive spitfire factory .su's were used in the merlin whereas the me109 was fuel injected. The castle vale council estate was built on the runways used to fly the spitfires to the various fighter stations that needed them. The germans were desperate to knock that factory out and came close once or twice but luckily never succeeded.
