France and Germany and other EU states continued to provide arms to Russia despite an embargo against Vladimir Putin's military in 2014. According to a leaked documents, France issued more than 70 licences to export military equipment to companies worth €152 million (£128m).
Confronted, the French Armed Forces ministry confirmed that France “allowed “the execution of certain contracts concluded before 2014”, which was allowed under the embargo.
